Reviews of Lightcatcher Building
"TIP: The Lightcatcher Building is part of the Whatcom Museum. To see a complete set of reviews, find that location on Google Maps, 1 block away. That's where my review is. But having written that, you'll find that the bulk of the interrsting new exhibits are presented in the Lightcatcher Building. I'll mention here that it's always best to check the website for the current exhibitions. They might or might not be your cup of tea. I've found that I enjoy about 50% of the exhibits. Well worth the cost of membership!"
"My 2nd stop with my single purchase Whatcom Museum ticket. I just finished a wonderful 2 hrs in the Courthouse, and now after a quick stroll, I'm here. This building is one of a kind. Just as it says, the light penetrates through the various rooms, the glass, and courtyard in unique ways and lasts throughout your visit...and beyond. You'll find yourself remembering certain images and the feeling you had within each area of the building. The images take on a life of their own and their message is almost piercing. Just like the light...a wonderful and lasting experience. Much respect for the local indigenous and their history. Good to see the support and exposure here! Nice job Bellingham."
"I went to the lightcatcher buildings Museum after dark college night. It was very fun and my favorite part was the flameworking demonstration by Sonny glass!"
"Unique and beautiful building that aims to lighten up the inside feel of a gorgeous couple art galleries. I stopped in just for a short visit, but appreciated the installations and historical artifacts along with many “interactive” exhibits. My favorite gallery featured nothing short of an amazing display of the Lummi People and their way of life here in the PNW for the last thousands of years. If you want to understand the tribal significance to the region, this is a great place to start. Love that a ticket here also grants entry to the Whatcom Museum just 2 blocks away."
"If you come here, make sure to not miss the Whatcom Museum, it’s included in the $10 ticket and has historic exhibits, galleries and taxidermy birds. This building is more of an art gallery. There were multiple exhibits, including a First Nations exhibit. Our favourite was the Sift Shift and Let It Shine (September 2023)"
