Reviews of Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa
"Staff - Friendly / Professional Atmosphere - Calm / Quiet / Small-ish lobby, no separate waiting room to take you away from the foot traffic entering the building; you can hear everyone's conversation at the front desk when you might want a little privacy. Massage - I have had a lot of massages in my time and I consistently run into therapist who do not listen, in these types of franchises. I wish this were not the case, however, I have noticed over the years that it is difficult to find a quality therapist who can address the massage in a confident and structured manner. I had an hour introductory massage. Brought back by my therapist 'on-time'. When asked, "are there any areas you would like to be focused on today?" I replied with a firm, "yes, shoulders/cervical region/shoulder girdle; that's where I hold all my tension. You can apply firm pressure, don't be scared to. The only area I do not like firm pressure if my glutes - it takes my breath away". I believe I may have made my therapist nervous by the bout of confidence I had in relaying this information to him with, because his voice cracked and trembled after I explained my likes and dislikes to him. When the massage began, I noticed the pressure was firm, good. And then five minutes later, I was quickly noticing that there was no rhythm or diverse movement - I was receiving the same massage stroke over and over again. I kid you not, this whole massage was done with one massage stroke, maybe two - over my whole body. I kept thinking to myself, "this therapist doesn't know what he is doing" or "What school did he go to? I hope he went to school for this, because if this is all he learned, he should get his money back". There definitely is potential in this therapist I saw, however, I couldn't help but think I was getting massage by someone who wasn't licensed. TONS of oil/emollient was used; I did not need to be slathered in it to have a good massage. Most of the time was spent on my back as whole - slightly the neck, but usually when I think 'neck' that means you're flipped over, supine, and have the front of your neck worked and not just the portion that connects to your back. When my therapist was trying to massage my neck, it's like he just took his thumbs and dug them into the side and ran them up towards my crown - I wouldn't call it much of a neck massage unfortunately. Finally, I was positioned supine, thinking I was going to have the front of my neck addressed, but instead I only had a quick once over on the front of my legs (which, at the beginning I stated "I'm ok if you just do a once over on my legs/arms), but it wasn't even addressed properly; just a few quick frictions were applied, with no particular goal in mind. After all that, the therapist closes with, "well, that's all the time I can give to you because we started late...". Uhm, what? 1. If we started late, I wasn't aware because i was on time and 2. You didn't address everything I wanted you to address. I am understanding of time, in this field, but for someone to tell me that I was late when I was 15 minutes EARLY, is crazy. Massage ended, I was provided a warm moist towel to wipe down with, thankfully, because I was covered in oil. No water was provided to me after the session. I was walked out to the front and pleasantries were exchanged. I paid, I left. Overall, there was potential with the pressure, but I still felt like I was being massaged by someone who didn't know what they were doing. I believe my therapist's name was either Michael or James? Pretty sure it was Michael? Hopefully, this insight will help the business and it's employees improve in their skills and abilities, but this experience is basically the reason I stay away from these franchises. Which is unfortunate, because there are some great LMTs out there...they are just extremely difficult to find. And for the amount of money they want for an hour session with the low quality massage you receive is not ideal. I won't be returning. The search continues!"
"I recently moved to the area, transferring an existing membership from a different location. For the most part, I have been pleased with the services received. The massage therapists are good and knowledgeable, the front desk staff helpful, and the facility is clean. My only concern has been the ability to get an appointment with a particular therapist when I need/want one. The secret is to book out as far as possible."
"Bad business. They confused my account with someone else’s account and charged me for a membership for 3 months. After several conversations they refunded the charges only to reverse the refund the following day. I will be filing a fraud claim."
"They never answer the phone ever one of the times I was running a few mins behind and the ladies three of them where behind the desk laughing and talking rather then answer ringing phones. Also when going in for the apt and other people are infront of you you have to sit there and fill out a forum everytime which cuts into your time if you don’t show up early enough plus there’s other girls not helping the line . I e been trying to cancel since Jan 2 crickets"
