Reviews of McCarthy & Schiering Wine Merchants
"What a lovely neighborhood establishment. Filled with gorgeous global wines, and great people with educated recommendations. Weekend tastings are convivial and second-to-none."
"Glad i found this place. Locally owned neighborhood wine shop. Staff is helpful and friendly. Love the weekly Saturday wine tastings."
"I've been shopping here for decades and am a Vintage Select member. Knowledgeable staff is great at recommending good wine that fits your budget. I have learned so much over the years about wines at their free Saturday tastings. 11 stars!"
"I've been here a couple of times now and I've had good experiences both times. The people are friendly and knowledgeable and there are wine tastings for nice wines sometimes. I was recommended certain wines based on similar wines I was looking for. Although the shop is small, they do have sections for Old World and New World wines. I haven't been able to find a good deal of their wines in any other wine place I've been to. As a result, I think a lot of their wines are on the pricier side, but come from smaller regions or producers. I was able to find a wine from Turkey, for example. It's a place I would go to buy fancy wines for special occasions."
"Always great for a tour of fine wines both local & global, including tastings on Saturdays. Not nearly as cheap as a six-pack discount at QFC or Safeway, but you rarely get the personal touch in those bigger stores. Here you squeeze into the smell of wooden wine cases and that cozy/cultured sense of densely packed bottles & knowledge."
