"Super cool old hotel. Spendy but worth it. Awesome staff. Had a great time. Comfy bed. Quiet at night. From the river side of the hotel you can't hear the freeway."
"We were warned about the "dizzying" effect of the stairwell carpet, and it is bad , more so when descending !! Shouldn't it be replaced for safety sake (avoid a lawsuit). We were in room 219. Nice view !! Loved being over the waterfall. One of the bathrobes had a torn pocket. The drain stopper flange for the tub was loose and didn't work well. The sink basin in the bathroom was very difficult to use. Water splashed out easily and I couldn't get my face close enough not to have water dripping on the floor."
"*PSA to brides* I used this hotel as my wedding venue. I was charged nearly $1000 as a service fee on top of what I paid for the venue ($4000) for the staff to set up 100 folding chairs for the ceremony. I was told that the staff were going to help set up my entire wedding but 2 weeks before, when I followed up about that, I was told that they don’t touch rentals due to liability issues.. which I understand but was told otherwise and was also required to get venue insurance. On top of having to find someone last minute to set up all my reception tables and chairs ( which was a LOT of work to put on one person), I asked to borrow 10-15 of their ceremony chairs for the reception kids table to which I was told I would have to pay for… when they were literally already used for my wedding ceremony. I called the manager after my wedding and refused to pay for those 15 chairs. I got the charge excused but no apologies for that nor for the complete negligence of the “day of coordinator” the venue provided. The gal told me she would help coordinate vendors on my wedding day. I even drove over an hour to the venue before my wedding so we could draw up a map together of where all the vendors would be etc. Come the day of the wedding- the get-ready room ( which was part of the venue contract) was an absolute mess and the “day of coordinator” was nowhere to be seen. When she finally arrived to work she stayed mostly in her office the rest of the day. Vendors and guests were using me, the bride, as the coordinator because there was nobody else to turn to. Not fun and not fair to me who’s supposed to be enjoying my wedding. We paid a lot of money to make this wedding happen. As for any bride it’s the most exciting yet stressful day to plan. To add to that stress was just, in my opinion, so unlike a wedding venue. Seems like they were motivated by greed rather than accommodating for people’s special day. Like take your money and run type of behavior. They wouldn’t even let us use their trash cans.. I was only told that a week or 2 before the wedding as well. I had to buy portable trash cans. My caterer has been doing weddings for a long time and he said he’s never heard of that. I understand maybe trash bags but cans? What did we pay the venue for? Is it not to use their premises and amenities. I would never recommend anyone to use this venue. A shame considering how beautiful it is. That kind of stress and treatment as a bride is not worth it. And I’m not even mentioning all the details."
"This place is very beautiful! The rooms are nice and very well priced. The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact they had very minimal Christmas decorations inside. My husband and I stayed there years ago, (apparently under different management) and they had at least a dozen 10' Christmas trees placed throughout the hotel. It was absolutely gorgeous and magical. That was the whole reason we wanted to go back. They only had 1 large tree in the lounge and interior decorations were very minimal. Still worthy of a visit. EDIT: this is to the staff member who replied to my comment on my review stating they weren't sure where they could put more Christmas trees. Your building hasn't gotten bigger since I stayed there last, so obviously there are places to put other trees. When I was there before, there were trees on each landing of the stairwells. There was a tree in the lobby, there were trees at each corner of the dining room. There were also trees on each floor. This time I only saw the tree that was in the corner in the lounge area. Also, I read some of the other reviews and frankly some of your responses are incredibly condescending."
"The Staff at front desk were great, warm welcoming and super accommodating! Our room was the perfect size for my husband's needs in a wheelchair and walker. A grab bar at the toilet would have been a welcome addition, I would advise adding this feature for safety! Food good and wait staff good. It was a fun weekend. Thanks so much."
