Reviews of Fred Meyer
"They treat everybody who touches anything with any type of higher value as if they are potential thrives or something. I understa.f that there is a lot of retail theft going on but some customers actually have money to.pirchace things. They never let me use a fitting room."
"The new checkout procedure is horrible. They have gotten rid of associates bagging your groceries. Now the cashiers must scan all your items and then bag which slows down the process dramatically. You can choose between waiting and having to watch the cashier try to get out of their stand (having to squeeze between the stand and the customers in the neighboring line) or you can bag your own groceries. It's horrible for everyone. I should not be paying Kroger prices and having to bag my own groceries. If I wanted to bag my own groceries, I would go to WinCo. Whatever corporate consultant they hired to "streamline" and cut costs is ruining the shopping experience. Kroger has made shopping unbearable and horrible for employees."
"This review is not so much about the grocery store itself - the store is fine. But their parking lot needs to be patrolled better. We haven't been in a while but have had some unpleasant encounters in the parking lot from people just acting a bit off to people aggressively panhandling and demanding we buy them gas."
"Decades long -- Fred's customer. Word to the wise -- if you're doing grocery pickup, do NOT order produce. Just got home, unpacked the car. Red onion -- the ONE thing I needed tonight -- was totally rotted through. No one who has ever purchased an onion could have looked at/chosen/touched it and not known it was bad. So, yeah. Back to Wally World. At least they don't sell you rotten produce.."
"I like the store for the most part. The aisles are a decent width. There are a few things that are nonsensical. One of them is when coming in the side of the store nearest the fuel island, the check out is right there and there's no designated place to get to the rest of the store so customers coming in usually walk the wrong way through the checkout and it's just a mess. Another thing is the paper bags. They have no handles. There's no reason for them to be paper. Use plastic like every other store and call them "reusable". Paper sucks in the rain and I've had employees bag up the groceries and the bags rip when they lift them up to put them in the cart. The employees are always nice. The men's restroom always smells like it's burning and the left faucet doesn't work. The rest of the store is good except the produce section which is WAY too small. There's always 15+ people in there smacking carts into each other. If that department is constantly full of people then expand the department. Having more room wouldn't be stressful or put anyone out of a job and I'd probably be in there longer to put more stuff in the cart. That leads to higher profit. Be like Safeway and have the produce be an open area where we customers don't feel like cattle. The greeting card section is large."
