Reviews of PCC Community Markets - West Seattle Co-op
"Great, just like all PCCs. Prices on the higher end but the food and products overall are good quality and fresh. The staff are very nice and attentive."
"Great selection, great salad bar. Expensive. Produce is ok. Some produce is excellent, last time I went the oranges were almost all moldy. Great local finds. I like it, but Natural Grocers is more affordable."
"I've been a member of pcc for over 30 years. In that time, I've seen the franchise go from fairly decent health food stores, to pretty much an organic Safeway. The produce department and the bulk food section are still top notch. The meat department is also still pretty good, as is the cheese counter. The rest of the store is inundated with organic junk food though. Just because it's organic doesn't mean it's good for you. If the macro-ingredients are not healthy, then the food is not healthy, even if it's organic. There are lots of products brimming with enriched white flour, various forms of sugar, and unhealthy fats. Many of the breads have 10 or more ingredients, mostly fillers, instead of the 4 ingredients that good bread should have. I couldn't find any basic whole grain bread there. That's sad for what is supposedly a healthy food store. And good luck trying to find an unsweetened breakfast cereal. I think they only have one single cereal that's not sweetened (unless you count the ones with fake sugar as unsweetened). You can also find plenty of white flour pastries and pizzas and desserts there. The deli does have some some healthy choices, but there are just as many, if not more, unhealthy ones. The frozen foods section is also very heavy with junk foods. Also, the prices are very high, and the membership benefits have devolved to the point of almost being nonexistent. Other than that, I really like the store."
"I love PCC West Seattle. Great prices. Yes, I said that! When you compare the items PCC sells to the same items sold at other area grocery stores (I'm talking about you, Thriftway) the prices can be anywhere from $3 - $5 LESS! But I came here to write about their deli folks and in particular, Deanne. I have a small "addiction" to a certain item they make but not always on their menu. I started asking when it may be back and avail and Deanne overheard me, came to talk to me and told me 1) I can always special order it 2) what the general t/a time is which was three days, and then when I mentioned, in conversation that it's not always made the same she proceeded to ask me how I liked it, AND went the extra mile to have it made inside of 24 hrs!! Called me herself to come pick it up too. When I think about shopping somewhere like PCC this is exactly the small-town feel and ideal experience that continues to earn my loyalty."
"Kinda boring and can be stupid expensive but the produce is amazing times ten. The selection might be small but its the best fruit in west sea besides the farmers market. The chicken Ceasar wraps they make and keep in the cold storage by the salad bar are so good and so the right amount of each ingredient instead of heavy dressing and heavy lettuce with barely any chicken isn't how they are made here, they are just perfect."
