Reviews of Spa Serein at Point Ruston Waterfront
"I waited quite awhile to post this review after our experience, hoping that the Spa would reply to my e-mails, but it's been 7+ months and I haven't heard a peep from them. I booked a spa trip for my partner and I's birthday. We're only a day apart, so we like to do things together to celebrate. I booked him a mani-pedi and myself a Hydrafacial. I did my research beforehand, because I have rosacea, so I knew what to talk to the esthetician about when I arrived. First off, my partner and I were given different welcomes. He was immediately stuck in the nail salon, and wasn't shown the locker rooms or amenities, whereas I was given a full tour, robe and other normal spa experiences. I paid for a full mani-pedi experience because my partner likes to get his fingernails and toes painted. Without checking the booking, the technician gave him a men's treatment, with no polish or any of the other extra that come with the service I originally paid for. Meanwhile during my facial, the tech struggled with getting the hydrafacial machine to work, which caused my facial to include an awkward five minutes where she was just hoovering my dry face until I mentioned I thought something was wrong. She was so flustered that shortly after that she snapped the eye cover elastic on my eye(so hard it watered and hurt) and then announced I was getting a red light treatment. When the light was over she was like "We're all done." and when I pointed out I didn't get the scalp massage described, she informed me the red light session had replaced that part of the service. Overall the whole experience was chaotic, unprofessional and depressing. Particularly for the amount of money I spent. The front desk employee did give me a small discount, like 10% when I said something and encouraged me to contact the spa manager. I've done so twice, and heard nothing. I get everyone has bad days and makes mistakes, but to not answer my e-mails really shows how little they care for customers. There are plenty of better spas in Tacoma, even go to Seattle, maybe?"
"Sounded like the service was good, but be careful when you pay. My wife and her friend had 50 min massages booked and I called to upgrade them to 80 min massages. I was told it would cost $50 each, which I agreed to, but when I got my receipt emailed to me, I saw that they added an additional ~$60 "service charge" when they ran my card."
"If I could give it less than 1 star I would. First of all the place lacks comfort, the resting area is bright lights and uncomfortable lounges. I went in for a top of the line facial, which I didn't get, the technician changed everything and used some type of clay mask on my face that hardened and she couldn't get off. Felt like she was using a chisel, the skin around my eyes bruised the next day. She didn't charge me for it (I really should not of been charged anything) What was suppose to be a relaxing afternoon was horrible."
"Good spa (not a ton of amenities, but still nice). Massage was also fine, not amazing…but that table was like a space ship! Haha so many gadgets! I did love that they had a TON of samples… that was nice :). and the sauna and chill out room were both really nice! Wish they had a hot/cold tub!"
"The process of booking online went great. I will advise those wanting to utilize the shower/sauna prior to a massage, to arrive 30 minutes early to appt. FYI, the sauna is infrared so when I arrived it wasn’t even hot, so you would need to get in there early to heat it up if it hasn’t been used. If not, you’ll have ample time to use it after. The atmosphere is beautiful, quiet, calm and most importantly clean. Lockers are spacious and robes and slippers provided are comfy. I will say the couples massage we had was “ok”. We’ve had better. We were both scheduled to have a deep tissue massage and are normally sore after we get those, but the ones we’ve had here at Spa Serein, were more “relaxing” than anything. It would have been nice if the therapist would have communicated if pressure was good or not, which neither did. They do offer dried fruit snacks and water before and/or after service. At the end gratuity’s is automatically added on to your bill, so no issues there."
