About the Business
The ReBuilding Center is a hardware store located at 3625 North Mississippi Avenue in Portland, Oregon, United States. As a climate justice nonprofit organization, we focus on making reuse and repair affordable for all, reducing waste and wasteful consumption, and maximizing the use of limited material resources on our planet.
Our 30,000 sq. ft. store is filled with donated reclaimed building and home improvement materials at affordable prices for all your project and repair needs. We also offer hands-on classes to empower students to develop practical building and repair skills, both virtually and in-person.
You can easily drop off materials through our alleyway during store hours or request a pick up. With the help of over 2,000 volunteers each year, we work towards building community resilience through reuse. Your tax-deductible donation helps us continue our mission of valuing people and materials that are often overlooked by society.
If your community-oriented organization or school is in need of materials for a project in the Portland Metro region, fill out a quick form to request a donation of used building and remodeling materials. Thank you for supporting our efforts to create a more sustainable and inclusive community.

"I wish I lived in PDX just to be able to shop here. It has great materials for small to bigger building projects and they are all well organized. If you are like me and can’t buy at least go to see some of the creative builds they have there."
"Great place to source vintage to slightly new pieces for an eco-friendly way to build and decorate. Chock full of everything from lumber and doors to cabinets, appliances, lighting fixtures and hardware, all reasonably priced."
"We have been going to the rebuilding center for years. It's a great place to search for that household item you have been searching for and at a moderate price. They have lots of stuff from large chandeliers to small fixtures, all electrical components to help wire and hang. Cabinets, furniture, antique hardware, tile, windows, doors, sinks, tubs, door trim, flooring, and more and more, so kuch stuff and the cob front door is amazing. Take classes to learn and / or volunteer. This place does it all and don't forget to go out the back door, through the alley I to the drop off location and the large warehouse with lumber and uses tools, always something random to see and buy."
"It's a great place for exploration and creation amidst discarded gems to be. I would not been able to afford the tools I found or the cedar I needed for a replacement deck anywhere else. Staff were friendly and generally knowledgeable. Their stock turns over quickly so if you like it buy it and don't wait for tomorrow. We could have used some help loading the timber and/or assistance with trying to tie them down. I assume it's to minimize the risk to the employees. We're sorry about blocking the neighbor's driveway, it was an innocent and honest mistake in a moment of desperation."
"I’m very impressed and excited by the class that I took here today! I love the mission of reusing materials and teaching the community to be more knowledgeable and capable in repairing and building. The instructors are extremely skilled and welcoming, they provide very highly quality instruction. I’d love to come again."
