"got Hot & Spicy Chicken this was strange the chicken was neither spicy nor hot in any way - i found essentially no flavor added by the spice at all. Despite the copious amounts of chilis heaped onto the plate, and each piece of chicken being covered in red pepper flakes, there was essentially nothing even resembling spice or heat in this dish. I even tried eating the chilis by themselves but they mostly just tasted dry this dish was just super dry overall. I originally planned to just eat the chicken, but doing this was so dry and flavorless i had to ask for a side of steamed rice. the rice actually wasn’t that bad. To add any wetness whatsoever i had to get soy sauce from a nearby table, combine it with the rice, and mix pieces of chicken together into that to make it somewhat palatable i did think the chicken was breaded well - it did have a nice crunch to it at times, and once pieces were integrated well as a complement to a different dish - they tasted decent. the problem comes with making the pieces the centerpiece of the dish when there’s essentially no flavoring to it another positive - the portion sizes were pretty big, which enabled me to take about a quarter of my order home i don’t usually care about the service when reviewing food - but it wasn’t amazing here i did like the vegetarian wontons as an appetizer - although there was a lot of oil in that sauce overall: 5.5/10"
"Food was alright and vibes were chill. The tea cups were stinky and they gave up new ones that were still stinky. They smell like their dish towel was getting quite stale. The service person smelled them and said she can’t smell the stink which was a little concerning. Eventually we got good ones from an empty table nearby. I believe the table next to us who came in after were also questioning their tableware."
"Don’t let the outside of this restaurant fool you - it’s easy to drive by and not notice it, but I’m telling you, this is THE place. I fell in love with Chiang’s years ago when I lived in Maple Leaf, and now I drive over from Ballard at least once every couple of months to satisfy my desperate cravings for their pan fried noodles. They’re handmade, thick, just the right amount of chewy, and deliciously savory. Hands down, my favorite noodles in the city. One time while I was eating in during a slow time, the staff all sat down at a big table and ate a fantastic looking meal together, talking, laughing, sharing dishes, and having an all around good time. It made me feel so happy to see all the employees having so much fun together, taking a well deserved break, and enjoying their delicious food! That memory always sticks out to me about Chiang’s. I think the owner is the woman with the short hair who is usually at the front counter - and I ADORE her! She’s so sweet and hilarious. Every time I come in, she is a treat to chat with. She always gives me the most sincere compliments and I leave feeling so special with my giant bag of noodles. Love you, Chiang’s Gourmet! Don’t ever change!"
"Traditional and authentic Chinese restaurant you can find near Seattle. The owner is Chinese and most meals can be modified to your taste buds. The owner and staff were super friendly and professional. The restaurant looks old, but it’s fairly clean for a Chinese restaurant. It’s been there at least for 20 years. This is our third time trying out this place, and the food is deliciously steady. Our favorite dish is the Shanghai noodles, you can ask to add spice to some of the dishes if you prefer spicy and hot. Overall, the food was delicious and the atmosphere is homey."
