"Stylist did a great job listening and making my child feel safe and comfortable. Bluey on the tablet, hair glitter, and a mini mani made our visit even more special. Can’t wait to come back."
"I really really hate writing poor reviews, especially of small locally owned shops, but I’ve been to many kids salons with my two boys (now ages 4, 6) and we didn’t have a great experience here. We live in NW Portland and usually go to other kids salons near our house, but they were all booked and my boys really needed haircuts, so I drove up to this location. Two stars for getting both my boys in at the same time to make the process quicker and for the kind employees (both of my boys can be iffy for hair cuts but they did well). However, they lost three stars because Sit Still salons are the most expensive kids cuts in town and both of my boys got terrible hair cuts (and they each had a different stylist): uneven, left too long even though I asked for shorter, not blended well. I’ve been to the Sit Still in Bethany near our house several times and I’ll pay the steep price because they get decent hair cuts there, so I was very frustrated to get bad haircuts that I now have to pay to get fixed at our favorite salon Pigtails & Crewcuts. Also be prepared that they have a ton of overpriced toys for sale near the chairs that your children will beg you for (my least favorite thing about all kids’ hair salons, this isn’t unique to Sit Still) and many of them have no price and the stylists don’t know how much anything is. It took a VERY long time for me to get out of there because my boys kept begging for toys and the girl working the register seemed to be brand new and it took a long time to look up prices and to check out/pay. As any mom knows, too much idle time for little kids can be stressful as they keep getting into stuff and start getting crazy, so I was feeling pretty frazzled/annoyed when we finally left with a large bill and bad haircuts. I highly suggest that management invest a lot more in training staff and in making sure all toys have price stickers to save a huge hassle for parents. Having no/less toys would be ideal to save parents a huge headache, but I know many businesses rely on the profit from those sales."
"Finding a good hair salon in the PNW is difficult to say the least and you can tell by the locals haircuts that their is a scarcity of decent stylists. I was very hopeful Sit Still Salon was finally a good salon I can count on but I was wrong as they seem to care to fill in staffing positions without caring about the quality of the cut. I had an appointment on 11/11 with Elodie, I was very detailed explaining what I wanted for my child. I told her I’ve had poor experiences in the past and I was hoping for a good one. Well my poor child has one of the worst cuts of his life. It’s patchy, it’s uneven, she gave him a bald spot. She cut the back much shorter than the front leaving hair sticking up. She kept covering his head in water to try and cover it up but I noticed. I told her as she cut it wasn’t looking good and asked if it was part of the process. She just kept cutting and cutting without fixing it, making it worse until I finally told her to please stop cutting as I didn’t see it getting any better. I left the salon shaking and on the verge of tears. My kiddo has his first kindergarten picture day, something I also disclosed to the stylist. It’s obvious to me this salon will hire just about anyone, even people who need more training. My child is not a Guinea pig for your staff to practice your craft on, especially when charging such a steep price for a child’s cut. Save yourselves the $40 and hand your kids the scissors because they’ll do a much better job than the stylists here."
"Recently, we visited the Sit Still Kids Salon in Vancouver for a much-needed rescue mission after my five-year-old decided to give herself a ‘unique’ DIY haircut. I was anxious about the outcome, especially given her initial fear of sitting in the chair. However, the hairstylist Myra went above and beyond, not only with her incredible patience and understanding but also with the thoughtful gestures. My daughter was welcomed with a charming squishy toy and a lollipop. As a finishing touch, she even asked if she could sprinkle some glitter on my daughter’s hair, adding a dash of magic to the whole experience. The transformation of her hair into an adorable style she now adores, combined with these sweet gestures, made our visit unforgettable. We had a truly wonderful experience and will most certainly be returning. Thank you for turning a potential hair disaster into a delightful and magical memory!"
