"BUYER BEWARE: don’t order online from blaksands/halite. I ordered a merino wool knit beanie - it’s cute but unfortunately totally unwearable because it smells HORRID. The smell permeates any room; airing it out for a week outside didn’t work at all. When I contacted the seller she suggested I mask the smell with a spray but it’s a nasty chemical smell that I don’t want my kids around. When I asked the seller if she could exchange for the exact item - just a non-stinky one - she said no as she wouldn’t be able to resell it (um yeah - she should not have sold this in the first place); she instead suggested I gift it to someone. Honestly would be horribly embarrassed to gift it with the smell, so planning on recycling it somewhere. I totally understand the return/exchange policy but don’t understand exceptions not being made when the seller sends out something that is essentially unwearable. Also, when looking thru previous reviews it appears that this shop is not a safe space for BIPOC. I’m bummed about being out $100, but -as a Latina and 1st generation citizen- I’m hopeful the owner will use the money to educate herself on racial justice, CRT and/or micro-aggressions. Consider supporting other small/local businesses instead. ETA: shortly after I posted this I received a refund and apology."

"Such a well curated and gorgeous gem of a shop just a few steps away from the old boat street cafe for those of you who have been around awhile! The owners are delightful, kind, and so knowledgeable. Go go go! The street parking is limited, but drive just past the main entrance and turn right to find more spots. To find the front and walk down the ramp at the front of the building, they are on your right!"
