Reviews of Emerald Pediatric Dentistry
"I took my son here to get some dental work done. He had some cavities on some baby teeth. But one in particular was causing him pain. The doctor suggested addressing all teeth under general anesthesia at a later date. This was in February. We set up his procedure for March which was the soonest they could get him in. I had to keep my son from school and obviously he couldn’t eat due to general anesthesia. An hour before his procedure I get a call saying oh did you get our message yesterday I said no. She then admitted no one actually tried to contact me the day before. She said the doctor was out with Covid and they needed to reschedule to April. I told her my sons in pain can we at least take care of the tooth that’s bothering him this month. She kept saying she needed to talk to the doctor and couldn’t give me an answer until next week. I let her know how unprofessional it is to call someone an hour before a procedure when my son hadn’t eaten and I kept him from school and now I get no other options but to make him wait longer. I found a place that could get him in the next day so I asked this office for the X-rays and notes. On the email she put here’s mason’s progress notes. My son is not named mason. I asked for the rest of the info she said when she cancelled the appointment yesterday it deleted it. So they canceled his appointment the day before but called me the day of, unprofessional. Then when I told them I was going elsewhere she magically could get my son in on Saturday! She said the doctor remembers “her” and we can have “her” come in on Saturday. I said my son is a boy. She replies that she was new and didn’t look at the file. Even though this is the same person I spoke to back in January when I brought my daughter here, so she cannot be that new. Regardless with all the errors I chose to go somewhere else who was able to help my son without general on the same day as his exam."
"DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE. I was not informed properly by the medical staff of my child’s plan for care before work was done, I was only informed of half of the procedure which I was not aware of until after the fact when my daughter woke up missing three teeth! This was our FIRST AND LAST experience here. This facility is completely unprofessional and I’m absolutely furious at the carelessness shown by the staff! Especially in pediatrics. My daughter is probably traumatized now."
"When we first started going here staff and the dentist were very helpful kind and patient with our children. They made them feel comfortable and they were cheerful and happy but within the last year with staffing changes, they have been unprofessional with their communication and putting up signs when they are close last minute when we’ve came for appointments. Within the last year, our daughter had to get a procedure where she had to be sedated with the travel anesthesiologist. He was very condescending and not helpful in regards to questions to her aftercare instructions. When I called back the office the day after her procedure, because she developed a fever was in a lot of pain njas her caps seem like they were getting infected. When I called back in to talk to an on-call provider or to see if there was a nurse on stuff I was told by the receptionist that there was someone to talk to you and to call back on Saturday with the provider and be back in, which I thought was pretty ridiculous for a pediatric patient to be having this kind of symptoms, and for them to just say to go to the emergency department so that they could do their evaluation. If you were the one that performs a procedure or any type of treatment towards a patient, you should be the one that’s following up with their concerns, not telling them to go to another place which would refer us back to the dentist. When I called back to make an which was today January 5 2024 I was told over the phone that we were dismissed which we were not mailed a letter of notification of this or a phone call to inform us, which you are legally supposed to when dismissing care from a patient including all family members. When you are dismissing a patient which they stated was due to being verbally abusive towards staff when asked about what specific incident/date they are talking about so that I would know and for them to explain they had no response and stated that it was just in their system, and they simply said that they would have their dentist call me back which I’m sure he probably would not remember or was informed. I am not pleased with how they handled the situation with my daughter, andI did go to the emergency department after her procedure. I am excited to try a new pediatric dentist, which happens to be a closer location to us. From the beginning when I scheduled their appointments to establish care, they asked about any accommodations for my children and what they were interested in, how they could make them comfortable and any questions or concerns. Stellar dentistry was easy to set up an appointmen over the phone and did not seem like it was an inconvenience as well as many recommendations regarding seeking care from them from other friends. Wish I started with them from the beginning to avoid this headache."
"Tried scheduling for two of my kids and the entire process was circus. First off, the whole idea of texting back and forth for scheduling is weird for me to begin with but whatever, that’s just a personal preference, but I felt like I was talking to a teenager that just got her first job with little to no customer service experience or basic office skills. The girl I talked to referred to my daughter in a shortened name, like a nickname she gave her, with no prompting from me, which is just weird for anyone to do, much less a clinical office. Then while trying to schedule her on one of the days that they are in office, was a nightmare. I picked a date that matched the options she gave me, but then she replied that the date I picked was on a Thursday or Friday, which they are not available on…but after a quick confirmation on my calendar it actually was a Wednesday that I chose, so I explained that to her and she replied “Oh, my bad.” like we were just BFFs. Second red flag. After going back and forth a few times, my gut instinct was screaming at me not to continue so I stopped responding and never finished scheduling or confirming our appointment. Fast forward a few days and I get a text reminder of our upcoming appointment that I never scheduled…I knew they charged a late cancellation fee, so I was very annoyed that I had to interact with them again to make sure this was taken off their schedule. I’m pretty sure I got the same girl, she didn’t have a normal office greeting like she was answering her personal phone and she sounded like she was groggy/just woke up and really didn’t want to pick up the phone. I told her that I didn’t schedule those appointments and to please make sure they’re removed. She paused, then in the crappiest tone asked “well are you just not going to be able to make it to the appointment?” I was FLOORED, the audacity of this chick..so after all of that finally I snapped back that I can’t believe this is an actual official place of business, it lacks any professionalism and NO we’re not going to make it actually, so REMOVE the appointments. Never received a cancellation confirmation either so I guess we’ll see how this plays out. Honestly if this is how the front of the office operates, I hate to imagine the rest. Schedule at your own risk."
"Cannot believe they work with children. Brought my son in for his first ever dental work. Gave him the first numbing shot with no warning, this shocked him, made him jump and cry. I asked if they could give him a warning, the dentist replied with "This is how I do it, if you don't like how I do it we will not do this today." I said this is a first for both of us, this is his first ever dental work. I understand you have a way that works with most kids but we do know our kids best. He would do better with a warning. Got my son calmed down and nitrous'd up, dentist came near with the tool and my son freaked. I said this is because he didn't get a warning the first time. He wanted to know what was coming but couldn't express himself now because of the nitrous and first shot. Dentist said I was making him nervous/criticizing how he does things. ALL I asked was for him to give my son a warning that something was coming. The dentist got frustrated and left the room. I also got frustrated and brought by son into a side room to see if we could talk our way around and still get the dental work done today. Before we know it, the assistant comes up to us and says "The dentist says we will not do the work today." Needless to say I am on mom FIRE right now. How can this possibly be a place that works with kids. Will never come near my sons mouth again. That is if I can ever get him back to a dentist after this."
