Reviews of Gentle Dental Salmon Creek
"To start nice office staff. Problems started while checking in. The lady tells me $633 will be due for a crown and ceramic post. I'm like well considering I'm here to see the dentist about my options how can I owe anything when nothing has been discussed. Then I go and sit she calls me back up and informs me the dentist is running behind and I can wait or come back at 130. Sit and wait how long don't know. I have used this location over the years and eveytime their is always some b.s. They do good work that's why I keep going back. However after today I think I'll try another location or another company all together."
"I’ve been a patient here for a couple of years or so. Went in today for a teeth cleaning and the assistant went to update my medical history. I thought the update would be if anything changed or a new medication was started. Instead the assistant asked me dozens of questions and I asked if this is necessary as it’s very intrusive. She said she had to continue. So she asked more and more personal health questions and I, again, said this was very intrusive and unnecessary. I said words to the effect that I don’t consent to more questions. Someone with a mask and on came in and asked if there’s a problem. I said, yes, I’m not continuing with these questions. If you don’t stop with this intrusive history this is my last appointment. She replied that they cannot treat me (teeth cleaning) without it and is required by “corporate.” I replied fine, then we won’t proceed and you can refund my money.” I had paid at the front desk as I had before - shame on me. So hopefully within two months “corporate” will send me a check. I think most of us understand that dentists should have some basic knowledge of our health history - could we have a drug interaction? Is antibiotic prophylaxis required? Am I allergic to pain killers or a sedative? Is a woman pregnant to make sure nothing endangers the mother or child? But a list of nearly every possible thing, from (have you ever had) STDs to TB to antacid use to …. You name it? Held by a corporation in their computer system? Computer systems that get hacked and where your personal information can be stolen? Bad enough that your passwords can be stolen but your complete medical history? It’s the argument of more and more service providers, not all in medicine, who tell you they need to know more and more and more about you so they can “serve you better,” all impacting your time, your personal privacy, and potentially your financial and medical privacy. And once you give the information it’s theirs and they own it (many dentists claim it’s now their property even though it’s your information ). Well, my health record and my financial information is MY property. If you, dear medical provider, have cause to think a medical issue is related to my oral health (but you are not MDs) then investigate when that is apparent, or ask me to see my doctor who is actually medically qualified to drill into that. It’s your choice. If you are okay having dentists-non MDs-holding on to all your private medical history and own it then you should continue. But if you think too many people want to know everything about you, even your most private and personal information, then push back. Yes, HIPAA says providers must protect information. But hackers don’t worry about laws. Disgruntled employees with axes to grind won’t abide by laws. Unethical providers won’t. And having your privacy intruded upon by non doctors for no medical reason - other than maybe, possibly it might help us detect something sometime in the foreseeable future - is going too far. Start respecting patients and citizens again and don’t treat us as if we’re dolts or people you can lecture. We pay you to handle our mouth and teeth and not to intrude into every aspect of our lives. I’ll answer questions for cause but not in anticipation of maybe, potentially, finding something, sometime over the next years or decades. UPDATE: GD responded. We already discussed. I will not share such information before hand. If they think they’ve found something in my mouth that requires a discussion we can talk about that - it would have some foundation in reality. If they think a drug could increase my BP they can discuss that at that time, for example. But sharing everything about my health, that goes into the franchise’s computers where it could be hacked or used inappropriately is not something I will sign up to. I’m also a human being whose privacy and time should be respected and Gentle Dental doesn’t agree with that and they refuse to treat patients who won’t give them all their personal health information before there’s a need for it."
"Gentle Dental in Salmon Creek is a very nice and well-run dental office. The receptionists are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. In the 2 years I have had dental work there the dental assistants and Dr. Yee have provided excellent dental service's. Dr. Yee has top notch listening skills and has provided valuable information that have made my decisions making - easy . Dr. Yee was able to save my molar and the procedure was long; however, she was careful and asked me several times throughout the procedure, how I was doing, and was I feeling any pain. The next day Dr. Yee phoned me to see how I was doing and if I had any problems. Just by Dr. Yee reaching out to me to make sure I was okay meant a lot to me! Today March 4th, I had a dental cleaning with Sofia (hygienist) for the first time and I found her to be caring, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable with the questions I had . I am very thankful that I found Gentle Dental because it’s a top notch dental care provider!"
"Went to them, previous experience with Gentle Dental was great at a different location. I'm now in more pain than when I walked in. I had a follow up appointment and I was told there's nothing wrong with the work they did, despite having a spot of extreme pain in the same area they worked, but they would call me back within a day or so as a follow up to see if there's been any improvement. There's been no improvement, no reach out, I would not recommend, and will be seeing a new dentist. Save yourself the time, money, and pain, find a different dental office. I was hoping for a better experience."
