"My daughter has extreme anxiety and sensory issues. I explained this when making my appt and I called the morning of directly to the office explaining the issues. When we arrived, the receptionist whispered to me with my daughter there, something like "we know how to handle her". My daughter who is highly capable (which most highly capable kids have these types of issues) says great, treat me like a muzzled dog! You can imagine how that started the appointment out. When she is getting her x-rays done, she explains she feels like she's going to puke. The tech continues and says 3 more but when she is done, she doesn't tell her and my daughter has to say are you done, I'm going to puke. She says yes, so my daughter throws off the padded bib and runs for the bathroom. Mind you she is already having a hard time not losing her cool. Then the dentist comes in to look at her teeth. My daughter is standing there, and she tells her to sit in the chair. My daughter asks why and no answer, the dentist then repeats to have her sit and my daughter again asks why. My daughter is being snippy since she is full on anxious mod and just puked and says she can't do this. The dentist says she is only going to look in her mouth with this mirror and its no big deal, so my daughter complies and gets into the chair. The dentist proceeds to look in her mouth with the mirror but also has the metal tool with it. So half way through my daughter who is in tears says to stop ( she can't handle the metal against her teeth) and gets up to leave. The dentist just rolls her eyes and I'm sure thinks she is just a spoiled brat! Instead of understanding how someone acts when they are in panic mod, and understanding what is going on. I am leaving this review so hopefully the staff or whoever reads this, may understand this is not how you help an anxious, sensory issue individual learn to trust a dentist! As she's having a meltdown in the car, she asks me why every dentist we have tried will do things without telling her or getting her consent. If the dentist had explained in detail what she was going to do and given her time to digest it, she would have let her complete the exam. The dentist prior to this one, went ahead and put fluoride on her teeth after she told them no! We have an appointment at the Silverdale location instead to get two small fillings done. I called to explain again her concerns and needs. We are hoping to finally find a compassionate dentist who will actually listen and make her experience one she will be ok with."
"I've used PCHS for most of my adult life and my children's for years with medical and dental. Always had great experiences. Today, however was not the greatest experience. Not going back to the Poulsbo PCHS Dentist office again if I can help it. *Staff challenged is a given for it definitely showed it *Ignored by a secretary at times *Lack of communication to patient *Hurried communication to patient *And more... It wasn't just us, other patients signing in ,were ignored too."
"I have a form of side cleft palate. I have never had teeth on the upper left. I had developed issues with chewing on the right side. Two fillings had broken and I could barely chew on that side which is how I eat. It was getting tough and they got me right in. They not only filled my two teeth but they built up the tooth surface! This made it easier to eat then it ever has been in my life! Eating on one side is hard enough but worse when your teeth don't meet. They did a teeth cleaning and it was the best one I have ever had. Please give this dental clinic a chance to help you! I am so grateful!"
"Absolutely the worst experience that I’ve had in my life with any dentist or doctor for that matter. Went in thinking I would be getting a filling and only to be told I had to come back for it and that if your BP is too high, they would not be able to do it and I should get a referral for blood pressure meds! I told them I have severe dental anxiety and asked if they have options for patients with dental anxiety, etc. The bedside manner was awful, cold and definitely not caring about the patient’s needs. Their process was rather robotic and I told the hygienist I would never be back as it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Not a calming environment at all and I left basically in tears because my experience was that awful. I’m not sure how they are still in practice. Just avoid!! Much better dental offices here that will actually calm and ease your mind as well as be supportive of their patient’s needs."
"Staff, hygienists, and dentist were all friendly. I would have had a good experience here except for the fact that the hygienist who was looking at my X-rays on the computer (a few feet behind me while I was in the dentist chair), took off her mask. I didn't notice at first (as I was facing away from her in the chair), but when I turned around she was sitting just a few feet from me on her phone with her mask pulled off. I quickly put mine back on (I had taken it off for dental work obviously) but didn't quite know what to say. When the dentist came about 7 or 8 minutes later she finally put her mask back on. I understand that it is difficult to wear a mask at work, but it's incredibly inappropriate during this time to remove one for a prolonged period of time right next to a patient. I live with two elderly parents, both of whom have underlying conditions and are at serious risk for covid. I am now incredibly hesitant to return even though few other clinics will take my insurance."
