Reviews of The Boom Boom Room Tacoma
"Not impressed. The place has a funky, old school feel, but is very tiny with limited space. My wife and I had two drinks each, no food. The bill came to $70.00. I had a margarita that came in a highball glass filled with ice, maybe an ounce of margarita. My wife had two difference special drinks that were very, very small for the price. Nice atmosphere, but expect to be really overcharged for the drinks."
"I sat at the bar, and the service was outstanding. The bartenders were super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is fun, eclectic, and super fun. It also appeared as though the ownership installed acoustic panels along the ceiling, which really tamps down the noise and makes it easy to have a conversation."
"The superbly crafted drinks are the star at the Boom Boom Room, but the food is just one step behind. Upscale comfort food - we enjoyed a nice steak and a huge portion of a pasta in house made red sauce. The server told us the pasta was made to share and she wasn't kidding - 2 or 3 people can share this for a smaller meal, or have a big meal by adding another dish. Our server was the best combo of old school swagger and service - loved it. The claim to fame here is smoked cocktails, which they do at your table. It's fancy, a bit of show, and everyone around us that had one talked about it - a definite conversation piece. The bartender the night we came in was amazing - fabulous balance to our Old Fashioned and Manhattan. She was low-key watching people's reactions to their drinks, to me that is one sign of a top-notch mixologist. This is the kind of place where you are proud to be known as a regular. Highly recommend."
"Small bar with a dark room speakeasy vibe. Lots of different drink options. Great place to grab a drink or come on a date. A bit slow service and overall decent experience. The drinks feel more like a show and can be hit or miss depending on your taste preference."
"Boom Boom Room wasn’t a super enjoyable experience for my group and I. When first walking in, it was scorching hot inside. I am sure it was due to the many bright red lights and neon signs. The host/server sat us in the back room as our party consisted of 7 people. The atmosphere (not including the heat) was down-to-earth and chill. It was a calm vibe with groovy music playing on the speakers. When we were ordering, I had confirmed the number of drinks we had ordered and she correctly repeated the drinks back to me. We wait for quite a while and the drinks come out one by one. But, we were missing a drink and the server was nowhere to be found. When we were able to track her down, she said we didn’t order the last drink and asked who took our order… to where we all exclaim “you did”… Even after I confirm the number of drinks when ordering initially, it was incorrect at the end. After waiting over 15 minutes for our last drink, it finally comes. The drinks are alright, not the best I’ve ever had. They have a visual drink where the glass is lit on fire and they just pour alc back on top to extinguish the flame called “Fly me to the moon”. It didn’t taste very good but it looked cool. The other drinks were okay. I’m not sure if it was just an off day for them but it was a mediocre experience. I will probably come again to give them another chance as it’s near La Ca Bar and easy to bar hop to."
