Reviews of Hello little India
"I had earlier left a 1 star review for service for getting denied "dine-in" at 9:22 when the closing time is advertised as 10PM. We were traveling from out-of-town and this was the one place we decided from our search at 9 PM, that we could comfortably reach before closing time of 10 PM. Most restaurants were closing at 9:30. We reached the place by 9:22 and were told dine-in closes at 9:15. I briefly tried to explain that they should advertise 9:15 closing time for restaurant, but was told that you can still order to-go. Next day, we unfortunately decided to visit the restaurant as it was the only Indian place nearby. The server first asked my wife "you seem familiar, have you been here before", which was weird and when we said yes, he followed up with: "Are you are the one that left the 1 star review last night?" and what made you so angry? After that he started explaining that their staff was tired last night and their dine-in closes at 9:15. I mentioned that they should advertise a 9:15 closing time for their restaurants and because of that we missed eating dinner last night as we were too late for other restaurants that night. After this the owner came over and started arguing that it was unreasonable for us to leave a 1-star review especially being Indians for an Indian establishment. I said we missed dinner, but he kept trying to explain why there was nothing to complain about and we should just have ordered to-go which was still open. At this point, I was deeply regretting our plan to try and eat there and I requested to cancel the order and started leaving. At this point owner started getting extremely agitated and started saying that "I shouted at him" and that "they don't need customer like us". BTW In the evening we visited another restaurant (Swagath Indian Cuisine in Portland Downtown) with a 8:30 PM closing time. I called ahead and asked would it be OK if we are there by 7:50 PM and they said "as long as you are here before 8:30 its all good". I wish all restaurants followed this policy to clearly advertise their "deny dine-in time" so folks traveling from out-of-town don't have guess various restaurants secret closing times."
"Food tasted delicious and flavorful. Ordered hariyali paneer as starter. Main course onion Kulcha, Daal kabali and jeera rice. Paneer was served in sizzler style and it was so delicious. Will visit the place again to try more food."
"It was just awful all around. There were many people waiting for takeout orders. Someone waiting for 1 1/2 hours and someone who called in at 5 for a 6 o'clock pick-up only to wait another 45 min. They had orders ready for people that hadn't arrived. Texts going out for 'ready' orders that weren't ready. People walking in, getting seated, ordered and served before the take out orders were ready. They are obviously busy but doing something very wrong today. I waited for over an hour after my pickup time. They told numerous customers 10-15 min for their orders. To top it off: they got our order wrong and the food was mediocre, including the worst Naan we've ever had."
"Food was okay. But the biryani served here is definitely not Hyderabadi biryani. You can call it a chicken pulav but not biryani. Hyderabadi chicken 65 was good. We also tried tandoori chicken Tikka kabob which was decent. Garlic naan was good. Their Punjabi kulfi was house made and was very delicious but it was frozen really hard. Over all the food was good but don't expect the real Hyderabadi biryani."
"We went there for the first time and the experience was good. We had Samosa chaat and chicken 65. The tastes were good with good portions. Preet was kind enough to make sure everything on the table served were good. The one thing that worth mentioning was the Mango Lassi, it was so refreshing and tasty. Overall a nice experience."
