The Hardware Store Restaurant

"My partner and I went there this morning and I got a salad, which was very good, however my partner’s food was not. They got the clam chowder and while we were at the restaurant they said that it tasted off. We were so hungry and tired from traveling that they continued eating it nonetheless. About an hour later they are having the worst stomach cramps of their life. I don’t want to be graphic in this review but trust me, the bathroom was ugly afterwards. They are still feeling extremely sick and it’s been about 8 hours since we ate there. It has somehow gotten worse. We are considering ending our trip early due to how sick they are feeling. They definitely ate toxic shellfish. Please watch out and make sure not to get the clam chowder. My salad was great though!"

"Biscuits and gravy were good. Fish and chips were good, the fries were a bit cold and I had to request the tarter sauce that was a listed item on the menu description. Was a bit surprised to be charged $2.00 for a hot water. Have never had a charge for a cup of hot water at any restaurant. Server asked if I wanted lemon and I said no. I did not receive a lemon, but it was listed on the bill with the hot water. I did not dispute the charge, but I was tempted."

"Excellent! We went for Saturday brunch and it was fantastic. Absolutely delicious veggie &/or bacon frittatas, fresh greens - everything perfectly seasoned & super flavorful. Our server Robin was so efficient & friendly with local recommendations and a wonderful personality. Great indoor & patio space, we’ll definitely be back - highly recommend!"

"Dependably good food and good service in downtown Vashon. We’ve been coming here for years and have rarely been disappointed. The restaurant is situated in a renovated hardware store (hence the name). It has an attractive open feel with a really nicely designed bar back. As an added bonus there is a small art gallery in the back on the way to the patio and restrooms. Service is friendly and prompt. We’ve had most things on the menu over the years and the only one that might not be worth the money is the crab cakes. Though they are good, the portions are rather small. The fried chicken is surprisingly light and tangy. Salads are delicious and the mains are all cooked perfectly. We’ll be back."

"After our ferry ride from Seattle, we stopped for lunch. I’m glad our host recommended The Hardware Store! Our server had excellent customer service. My Bloody Mary was perfectly spicy and I had the BEST meal of our group!! The wedge salad with salmon!! Perfection!! I will say that everyone said they liked theirs too, I just wasn’t paying attention!!! If we didn’t decide to grocery shop and stay at the house we rented, we would have returned for another delicious meal!!!"
