Reviews of Metropolitan Market Gig Harbor
"In my opinion the met market in Tacoma is better. Staff is friendly and the store here is bigger but I feel like the produce for some reason is fresher or just better. I don’t know if it’s cause Tacomas is busier and things sell quicker but I’ve had many cases of things going bad quicker or accidentally buying things that had already gone bad. I also hate that the salad bar isn’t just open for people to access at this one."
"Very friendly for vegan... good hit soup selections, fresh sushi, a deli, a hot food selection, an awesome cheese area, a ton of prepared meals to take and heat and to eat. Hot food and sandwiches made to order. Great options..."
"Metropolitan Market in Gig Harbor is a great place for fresh, delicious food in a clean and friendly environment. They have a wide variety of local and seasonal produce, as well as a deli with a wide selection of meats, cheeses, and prepared foods. The eating area is also great, with plenty of seating and a friendly staff. I highly recommend checking it out!"
"Metropolitan Market is another place we decided to stop at on our way home from Seattle. Metropolitan Market has the reputation of being more of an upscale supermarket. They offer many natural and organic items and essential daily items you usually find in a regular supermarket. As we walked in, my first impression was this store was aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Beautiful little bakery, a friendly little coffee shop, an attractive produce department, a very appealing-looking meat department, and a gorgeous floral department! Although not spending a lot of time in this supermarket, and I am writing this review as a first time visitor, it reminded me of a Central Market, Sprouts, or maybe even a Trader Joe's, but a little more upscale. The Metropolitan Market prices did seem a little higher than most general markets. Still, as of right now, prices are higher everywhere, so I guess the question is, are they offering higher quality, more unusual, hard-to-get items? Is it due to supply and demand, location of the store, how about tariffs? Perhaps ramifications from Covid? What about all the above? If the item or items is something you want or need and they offer it but maybe at a little bit higher cost, are you really going to waste gas trying to "shop around"? The staff we spoke to were friendly and knowledgeable. The store clean and what we could tell organized. They have a wonderful little coffee shop. And yes, I had to purchase an iced latte from it; I ordered it plain; it was a decent iced latte with little to no aftertaste; it was intense but not bitter, full-bodied, and with mild acidness. Overall I would rate it a four-stir stick coffee ;) I bet they purchase their beans from a local roaster; I believe Cutters is nearby; it tasted very familiar, not having tried it before, and Cutters kicks out some great beans! If I am ever in Gig Harbor again, which I know I will be eventually, I will go back and explore their store a little more! You can find Metropolitan Market at 5010 Point Fosdick Drive, in the Harbor Plaza in Gig Harbor, Washington. It shares space with several other businesses; honestly, it was a maze to us! "Please be kind to ALL living things!!!""
