"Had a great experience with my friends last night. We enjoyed having coffee, listening to the music and playing board games."
"I've been looking forward to going here for months as I've grown up in Whidbey. Finally came down and the Commons was the first place we went as I've only had fond memories there and I've wanted to go for a while. The lady at the front treated me and my friend with only hostility after I stumbled on my words a bit, asking if they did carmel macchiatos. She started to rudely say that "this isn't Starbucks" and gave me a nasty look. In the end, the coffee wasn't even made right, as she had forgotten most of the things I asked for. (Which wouldn't have been much of a problem if she was a bit nicer.) Won't be coming back after this."
"The food and coffee were fine - nothing extraordinary but fine. I love sitting around good used books so the atmosphere should feel good. Unfortunately one staff -possibly the manager? - was unbelievably rude and even insulting. Won’t be back"
"I’m so torn about only giving The Commons 3 stars, because the food IS good, and the atmosphere is awesome. But ugh - the service is so bad. I’ve been coming here for over a decade (or longer) and it’s gotten so much worse over the last couple years. There’s only friendly guy (wears a kilt), but the rest of the crew acts the LAST thing they want to do is take your order. Kitchen crew is way friendlier!! Especially as a local to SW - and an island native - it’s such a bummer that one of the best places on the south end seems to be completely devoid of even mediocre customer service."
