"Stopped in this quaint Italian restaurant for dinner and wine. We all ordered a different meal, one had the winter pasta special, I had the lemon fettuccine, And my friends had the rigatoni and chopped Italian salad. There were no leftovers. The food was delicious and the two bottles of Italian wine were perfecto. We celebrated a birthday, so we enjoyed the lemon olive oil cake for dessert and was so tasty and fabulous."
"Intimate, quiet. Nice and quiet. Perfectly cooked pasta reminiscent of Roma. Just a great experience shared with dear friends. We'll be back."
"When my mushroom pasta arrived with ONE single mushroom quartered and elegantly positioned over creamy pasta, I was taken aback by the audacity. It takes some nerve to call that mushroom pasta and charge $19 at lunchtime. Still, the atmosphere took me back to Italy. It is lovely in there and you can see the chef cooking just steps from your table. But looks aren't everything. In order to earn my business again they will need to get more generous with their servings. Even the cheese on my daughter's kid pasta was stingy. I think it was about $12 for a small plate of noodles with a dash of cream and maybe a HALF tablespoon of cheese. I mean, really stingy. Also, why no meat on the kids menu? Have you ever contemplated that by being stingy with children, you are literally affecting their growth? The house-made focaccia with tomato sauce was incredible so they may have some other winners, and the wine looked well chosen. Chocolate chip cookie was pretty good too. Service nice, but in a superficial way."
"The service was great. Some of the food was middle of the road, such as the gnocchi. To me, all I tasted was the olive oil. But when we added the panccetta, it made the dish much better. It was my first time eating there so I'm hoping it was just a one off. The atmosphere is intimate. This is not a big place by any means. The wine selection is nice too, making for a perfect date night. I would not recommend this place for kiddos."
"Best meal we've had in Bham, and we've had some great meals. Gnochetti pasta (homemade) with sundried toms was last-meal worthy. "I don't want to keep eating, cuz then it will be gone," she said. Also loved the eggplant panini and the bruschetta. Even the simple house salad was more than the sum of its simple parts. Our server knew a lot, and he was personable and peaceful. We got to talking Italy, and he said he was drawn to working at Bar Cicotti because it's modeled after the small places in Italy where you can pop in for a glass of wine, espresso, and a delicious bite from a simple menu. He also told a story about one of the wines, a varietal that Italians had thought extinct until they recently discovered it in some guy's back yard and revived it."
