"What a wonderful surprise! This place has got the whole northern European pub vibe as well as a bit of speakeasy will the whole hidden basement entrance. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, a little dark, cozy and very inviting. Archer is quite unique in our experience in that the food is many notches above the usual fare we encounter in Washington. We had several apps including sausage roll, belly bangers, soup of the day and the Shepherd's Pie. My husband, who is a chef, ate his Sausage Roll and Shepherd's Pie with his eyes closed savoring every bite. I think he was moaning a bit with delight too. What stands out here is the development and layers of flavors. Two people can make the same dish, with the same ingredients and one can be just food while the other is sublime. The Shepherd's Pie and Sausage Roll was definitely the latter. Truly, a skillful person is cooking with their soul here. While I am not a fan of Smoked Salmon as it is always too dried out for my taste, the Smoked Salmon soup was extraordinary. I could eat the broth by itself, such amazing depth of flavor. We are looking forward to enjoying more of their offerings, which are limited compared to most restaurants, but doing a few extraordinary plates is far superior to a vast array of the mediocre. My husband truly enjoys a good single malt whiskey and they had many, along with bourbons with very reasonable prices based on their top shelf quality. He was like a kid in a candy shop. And last, but certainly not least, Lyric was wonderful and we appreciated her service very much. We will be returning as often as our livers and waistlines allow."
"This was the 1st time we visited Archer Ale House. It's fantastic! Loved the food. The employees are great and the cocktails are superb. The Guinness is on nitro. Need I say more? Just go and enjoy."
"Recommended to me, by a local, and now me to you...this place is a hidden gem. No seriously, it's hidden down in a basement, smack in the middle of Fairhaven Village on Harris. No longer will you ignorantly stroll on by, but now, being fully informed, you'll quickly head on down those stairs, and you'll be pleasantly surprised how good their food is... especially for a Bar. Sit yourself down... at said bar, and order up... an old fashioned, followed by the best BLT you've ever tried. That's correct..and my dollar says it will be, and you'll agree with me before that last bite is consumed. Very cool environment, superior service, lots of space, an, and... I relaxed immediately once I sat on that stool, and I think you will too. So... "come on down" and hang out with the locals."
"It was a much better Irish pub than I thought, and the food was authentic, so I enjoyed enough food and beer. If you go down the stairs, you can enter a very cozy bar, and Bangers and mesh, Oyster, and sausage roll are also authentic. The Nitro Guinness beer also tasted great. Highly recommend this place"
"Super cozy bar with homey atmosphere. Impeccable service. The bartender was extremely attentive and fulfilled our order quickly. As soon as our waters were half empty, he was right there with a refill. We didn’t order food today, but from the looks of what others were ordering around us, the food is good! I started with a Scratch Whiskey Ginger, and hubby had an Old Fashioned. My cocktail was pretty weak, but still good. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Old Fashioned. My second drink was just a Hefeweizen with lemon. We love playing Trivial Pursuit when bars have it, and Archers had a couple of editions along with many other games which was fun. Overall, a great place to hang out with that neighborhood feel."
