Reviews of Renewal by Andersen of the Greater Twin Cities
"Overly confident that I would buy their product with a condesending response to my refusal. Reminded me of rude college kids selling vacumn cleaners."
"Sales rep was very nice. She seem to know her information. Answered all our questions. We ended up not using them, but I learned a lot talking to rep."
"Windows - 4 stars Service - 2 stars We were told it would take 3 months but it took almost 8 months. Be aware if you get financing that you may likely have to make payments before they are done or even start. They are not organized nor responsive to emails or phone calls. Expect to have to send multiple ones just to get a generic response. Don’t just sign off when they are done; you NEED to look at their work. They ‘forgot’ to install trim on about 6 of our new windows. But after numerous back-and-forth they finally came out and fixed it. One of the new screens is too tight and we aren’t able to remove it without damaging it. The screen material used is cheap and gets cut easily. The plastic pieces to take off the covers (for painting) are a cheap plastic and we had a couple break on the first use. Overall: Expensive and the service doesn’t match/justify the cost."
"The install team was awesome! They are very talented and professional. I would highly recommend them."
"I wish I had done more research before I contacted Renewal by Andersen. If I had, I never would have used them for our window replacements. When I first called, they asked when my husband would be home so the estimator would be able to speak with both of us. I told him that I owned the home before I met my husband and that there was no need for him to be home. They insisted on making the appointment at 6 PM after he got home from work. I should have just hung up then and there. The estimator was nice and had an earlier appointment available the day he was scheduled, so he actually did arrive when my husband was not home. The estimate was fine except the price was extremely high - $7500 for three windows. On the day of the installation, the installers were very clean and did not leave any mess. However, instead of replacing the entire sill, they nailed a 2“ x 1/4“ strip of unfinished wood all the way around the window to cover a gap. When I asked them about this, they said that was what they were told to do. See photos. When I contacted the main office about this after the installers left, I was told that there would have been an additional charge to replace the entire sill and that the salesperson should have told me about it. I guess he didn’t because I was already in shock over the price and he thought that I would not want to spend an additional $400 per window to replace the sills. (After paying as much as I did, why wouldn’t I have wanted to have my windows look good?) He said he could provide the names of some contractors who could come out and do the caulking and painting. I’m sure this would have ended up costing more than the $400 per window it would have cost to do it the right way. Now, after paying $7500 for three windows, I have to caulk and paint this extra strip of wood. Instead of having wide, smooth sills, I have a stupid strip of wood all the way around. It looks terrible. Aside from the rude and misogynist initial call, the high price and the unsightly installation, I have also had a lot of trouble with financing through Andersen. They don’t actually finance themselves. They use multiple finance companies. Despite a credit rating of 792, the first finance company turned me down and I had to go with the second financing option. There has been a lot of confusion with the paperwork between the finance company and Andersen. I tried for several weeks to get this straightened out. The finance company said they were calling Andersen every day and not getting a response. When I called Andersen, they said I did not sign the paperwork. I had already signed two sets of financing documents, so clearly there was some disconnect. Finally, Andersen and the finance company got their acts together and I supposedly have one year from now (two months after installation) to repay the loan before finance charges are accrued. However, a week later, I still do not have any paperwork from the finance company. I don’t trust them or Andersen about anything at this point and won’t until I see something on paper. When I initially discussed financing with the salesperson, I was told that I had a year to pay back the loan before any interest charges were accrued. When I spoke with the finance company after installation, I found out that if I have not paid the loan off in full prior to the end of the first year, I will be charged a finance fee of 18% on the entire amount going back to day one of the loan. This means I’d pay $1350 for the first year of “free financing” if the entire amount is not paid in full, then continue to accrue 18% until it’s paid in full. This seems very underhanded and exploitive to me. With my credit rating, I’ve never seen terms this repugnant. Overall, I would absolutely NOT recommend using Renewal by Andersen at all. It was a very frustrating and expensive experience that has left me feeling battered and broke."
