"I've gotten a lot of my pets from here. Two of my bunnies and one of my hamsters as well as many people I know adopting from here. Staff is very welcoming and friendly and knowledgeable Pictured my current bunny Nova I got from them over 5 years ago"
"Very professional, honest and helpful looking at possible animals to adopt. Just wish that WHS would have more small dogs available. Photo of Benji Surrender 12 years ago, Looking for another poodle."
"Loved picking up our new member to the family. He is such a wonderful addition. He loves his toys and playing with everyone. Still learning. But such an improvement since day one."
"I appreciate everything they do for animals, but as a human they were kind of rude. The info on their website is wrong. You can only adopt on Friday or Saturday. I went in and they implied I couldn't follow directions.... But after double checking the website clearly stated Mon.-Sat. were adoption days in the afternoon. I recommend calling ahead if you have a long drive like I did to check the hours in case of changes."
"We lost a beloved cat this summer and it had become lonely without her, so we decided it was time to add a new furry member to the family. We used the website to keep an eye out for the right cat, and I was very impressed with how well the website was managed, it looked to me like the available animal section was updated daily; when we found a few kitties we were interested in, we felt confident that we could make the drive knowing those cats were still available. We went immediately to the ozaukee campus and found most of the staff to be very friendly and helpful, despite how busy it was that afternoon. We did have to wait over 2 hours for our turn to meet the cats we were there to see, so I would not recommend the weekend for serious adopters. The facility itself was very clean and all of the animals seemed healthy, and aside from needing homes, looked to be content and safe in their surroundings. In addition to animals, they provide vaccine clinics and training classes for a nominal charge. There is also a small pet store to peruse with treats and toys for both dogs and cats. The layout of the building provides potential adopters with great access and viewing of the animals at all times, and we enjoyed checking out the other animals during our extensive wait time. The wait was well worth it though, as during that time we witnessed a pair of kittens being brought out to the "cat chalet," and discovered that they had just become approved for adoption. We were anxious to meet them and when our turn FINALLY arrived, we fell in love immediately. These two kittens were adorable and fearless and sweet, and we were torn over which to adopt. The rambunctious boy named "piglet" or his sweet sister named "roo." It broke our hearts to think about breaking apart such a closely bonded pair. The obvious solution: adopt them both! Which we promptly did, and were very pleased when our adoption counselor offered us a discount in adoption fees for the second baby! The adoption process was easy and quick, only 15 minutes or so to do paperwork and get the kittens ready to go home. I have to add a few words of praise to whomever had fostered these kittens on behalf of the humane society. They are the most well adjusted kittens I've ever met. They took immediately to exploring their new home, and showed virtually no apprehension or any aversion to being handled. We had them asleep and purring in our laps as soon as they were done exploring the house. We are absolutely taken with them, and they seem to adore us as much as we adore them. Our overall experience was fantastic, aside from the extended wait time, it couldn't have gone any better. We are still deciding on names for our little monsters, but we're excited and looking forward to our future together with these fluffy bundles of perfection! Thanks so much to everyone at the Ozaukee campus, as well as to the angels who did such a fantastic job fostering these two!"
