"**Update** Now, in February 2022, I continue to get letters from various states' department of revenues, indicating that, for various reasons, my refund cannot be issued at this time. Despite calling HR Block's phone number SEVERAL TIMES, including once when I was transferred by one of their customer service reps out of HR Block's phone system altogether (to Bank of America, of all things), I have never been offered the refund that was promised back in May of 2021. This is, in a word, insane. Never, never, never hire H&R Block to do your taxes. Ever. **Update** Received a call from the Regional Manager, telling me that H&R Block would make it right. It was a couple days before taxes were due this year (May 17, 2021, due to congress pushing back the deadline one month), so he asked if it would be okay if he called me at the end of the next week to let me know what they can do for me. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. Additionally, I have been contacted by MULTIPLE states' DORs telling me there were errors in my prepared taxes, penalties applied that were inapplicable, additional funds owed, etc. It has been an incredible hassle and H&R Block has, to date, done NOTHING to assist. Again, I have spent nearly $1,700 to have my taxes professionally prepared by them. I promptly got them all documentation requested, and they had all information months in advance of the original April 15, 2021 deadline. Despite this, I - the untrained - caught numerous, critical errors, in the prepared documents, and the auditors at the various Departments of Revenue at various states have caught additional errors. And H&R Block has done nothing to make this right for me. No offer to refund money, no sincere apology for the hours upon hours I have now spent chasing down contact information for DORs at various states, talking with auditors, and re-doing my taxes. Nothing. Do not make the same mistake I made by hiring them. *** My experience with this branch has been, in a word. awful. First, Gina prepared my returns. Upon completing them, and then reviewing them prior to filing, I had several questions. Information was included (such as a penalty for over-contributing to an IRA), that was simply incorrect (I do not have an IRA, by way of example). After correcting these numerous mistakes, I told Gina the returns were approved to be filed. This was exactly one month before they were due. Shortly thereafter, I received notification that two of the states had rejected the returns. I called the office, but was forced to leave a voicemail. Hearing nothing for multiple days, I again called the office and was again forced to leave a voicemail. I also emailed Gina at least three times, each with no response. Finally, when I actually got someone on the phone at the office, I was told that Gina was now off until JANUARY. I asked what happened to voicemails left for her or emails sent to her, and the guy said he had no idea. Honestly, this was an absolutely insane response for a professional services business. I was directed to someone else - Janice - who assured me she would figure out why the two states had rejected my returns. This was now two weeks before taxes were due. I heard nothing for a week. I called back, and was forced to leave a voicemail. Another woman called me back to let me know Janice wasn't in the office that day, but that she would get the message to her. For three days, I've heard nothing. I called the office again. The receptionist was rude and cursory with me when I explained my issue to him. He said he would give Janice the message and she would call back "when she had time". We are now three days out from taxes being due, and I have absolutely no confidence that I will hear anything. If you want a stress fee tax season, do NOT use this branch (indeed, do not use H&R Block). I paid almost $1700 for the tax preparation services, and have gotten nothing but errors, silence, and stress in return. Incredibly disappointing."
