"I got a few different calls saying I owed $140 for a medical debt that I was 99% sure I had paid off already. I told them it had been paid already & they were like well we don't have record of that & then kept calling me. I got a letter in the mail then stating that I had an unresolved debt & if I didn't make a payment (to them) firuter collection action would occur. I looked at the account they claimed I still owed a debt on & had paid it off more than a month before the date on the letter they sent out. Very shady. Do not pay them or speak with them. Contact who they claim you owe money to directly"
"Very, very shady "company." Extremely aggressive, disrespectful reps who lack basic people skills while interacting with folks. They've called me twice and refused to answer the very basic question of "what is American Accounts and Advisory." If you aren't proud to, or can't, answer a question to explain what your company is, that's highly suspicious. If this is in fact a collections dept for medical bills, it should be shut down. The secrecy is alarming. If I owe a bill, just say that. It's not complicated."
"Been receiving harassing phone calls from this company for a medical bill for a couple of weeks now. Never received my anesthesiologist bill and these guys start calling to collect BEFORE even sending me a bill. When I stated this on the phone they admitted they hadn't sent anything, and then admitted that they sent the bill to the wrong address when they "confirmed" my address incorrectly. Horribly unprofessional."
"This company is being passed debt collections in less than 30 days of the initial bill for some institutions. That means that if the bill was issued on the first and is not delivered until 3-5 business days have passed, then the individual who owes the money mails it out and 3-5 business days pass, and then the debtor's bank takes 3-5 business days to process and THEN the individual's bank takes 3-5 business days to process... well, you get the picture. It's too early. Their staff is harassing and rude. Ask for an itemized bill, it's within your rights especially if they are collecting on a medical bill. Read the laws in your state, you have time to pay. Don't let them get pushy with you and know the longer you keep them on the phone, the more of their time and money you waste. Be sure to send the payment to the original debtor and not them. There is no reason they should collect money from you in addition to the institution. This is the best way, as consumers/patients, that we can ensure debt collection backs off besides writing our representatives. It's unreal for a debt collection agency to receive an account that is not past due, especially when the medical industry is unwilling to take payment at the time of service."
"I was just looking for a little respect and some clear action items to figure out whether their call was legitimate. My anesthesiologist sent a professional charge to this debt collector. I never received a paper copy, I never received a phone call, I never received a message, and the bill never appeared on MyChart. I received a call from a debt collector with American Accounts and Advisors. I asked him how I could follow-up to find out whether his call was legitimate (since I had no record of a bill, and his caller ID showed as Scam). He refused to tell me who I could contact to confirm the bill was legitimate, he instead threatened to hurt my credit score if I didn't pay then. I went around the horn with phone calls at my surgical hospital and eventually found that the Madison Anesthesiology Consultants was responsible for this professional charge. I called them, they claimed they had sent the bill via mail and called me. Then they confirmed that it was sent to the debt collector and I paid the charge through the collector."
