"I've banked at this location all of my life. As I've moved from one city to another I always kept my banking here. While the times have changed, along with who owns the bank having changed, I have consistently found the folks I work with to be personable and helpful. There was a time where I was interested in starting a business, and while looking at financing solutions I considered State Bank my first stop to learn about my options. In short order I found myself sitting down in a conference room with the bank president. Not because I asked, but because he wanted to be involved. On personal matters I have had a person serving as a point of contact for as long as I can remember. If I need something or have a question, regarding banking or other matters where they might be able to offer insight, I've found the help genuine and insightful. To be prudent I have considered switching to a larger institution, but I thought my odds of becoming a number were far greater. Maybe you'll find better loan or savings rates. They may not always be the lowest or the highest based upon the issue, but I've found them to be competitive. If you want a banking solution that is more than capable of knowing you by first name when you walk in the door, and will have competitive solutions to your needs, I've found it to be the case here, whether when it was the Bank of Verona, or as is now, Cross Plans State Bank. From the perspective of someone who has banked there for over 40 years."
"After being a customer for two decades, from back when this was "The Bank of Verona," the powers that be decided to lower what I could withdrawal from their own ATM from $500 to $300, with no notification. Further the minimum amount required in BoCP's savings is $200. That's $100 more than required in my savings accounts at UW Credit Union and The Bank of Monona. Further, a monthly two dollar service charge is deducted should one's balance fall below $199.99. So I've closed my 20+ year old savings account at Bank of Cross Plains and will simply bank elsewhere."
"Staff were always friendly and helpful, and I never had any problems with this particular chain of banks, but the rates you'll get here are not exactly competitive. You can find much better rates somewhere like UWCU, if you're eligible, and that will still keep your money local."
