About the Bayview Park
Bayview Park, located at 1001 Le Conte Avenue in San Francisco, California, is a beautiful and diverse natural area that attracts tourists and locals alike. The park boasts a wide variety of plant and animal species, including stunning wildflower displays, coastal scrub, eucalyptus and oak groves, and the largest population of Islais cherry trees in the city. Visitors can expect to encounter western fence lizards, California alligator lizards, non-poisonous snakes, red-tailed hawks, great horned owls, and woodpeckers during their visit.
The primary trail at Bayview Park is a paved road that loops through the park, offering stunning views and glimpses of the park's rich history. Remnants of stairs and retaining walls built by the Works Progress Administration during the Depression can still be seen along the roadway. The park's cultural history dates back to the early 1900s when it was almost lost to development, but was saved and officially declared a park.
In 1997, the City and County of San Francisco acquired an additional 16 acres of the upper northeast slope of Bayview Park to be used as open space. Visitors can enjoy hiking, birdwatching, and picnicking in this beautiful natural oasis. Reviews of Bayview Park
"Great for a peaceful walk in the woods, the first part is the steepest and then it’s just a flat circle around the hill. The whole thing is well maintained, quasi paved. Love how secluded you feel while simultaneously feeling like you’re in the heart of the bay."
"Good hump up hill very flat and no facility or parking! Lots of birds! Nice view south and old Candles stick park area and the bay’s"
"Between downtown SF and the airport. Small peak to climb and hug around with 360 views of the whole area. Eucalyptus trees all over and hidden away. Parking is an issue, there is none except on the street and entrance not obvious either. It's a basic up and down with loop at top. View is worth it though."
