"what happened to this place? its overgrown with weeds and covered in goose feces now. years ago it was one of the most popular stops for river goers. there were almost no weeds and there was no goose poo to be found. was mud island a victim of the pandemic? i am guessing the loss of traffic allowed the geese and weeds to take hold and no one is willing to clean it up to return it to being the destination it once was. there also no longer an ounce of mud to be found here."

"A nice spot to stop and set up a day camp for all day swimming (water is shallow enough though may need raft to get to when river is high. It's also next to Ancil Hoffman park / golf course."
