Reviews of Psychiatric Services SC
"I have come to PSSC for the last 7 years. There are some very talented people who work there, its just a matter of getting one. Mental health care is hard to find and its been my experience with PSSC that they will try to help people get in and they "get it". There's always going to be bad experiences but when we are talking mental health care, ya take what you can get right now and for what it is, Psychiatric Services puts its best foot forward. They're not trying to be UWHealth. They are trying to serve the under served. Which is admirable. Old school."
"I’ve had an extremely positive experience with Psychiatric Services over the course of several years. The staff is helpful and pleasant. Never had a single bad experience. Amy Miller is a great person and an attentive mental health resource. She’s always been there for me when needed, and most importantly, she cares about her patients and always approaches things with good intentions. Highly recommend."
"Saw Amy Miller who had a very cold demeanor, which made it difficult to discuss symptoms. When treatments weren't working, I brought up alternative options that she determined I couldn't receive, leaving me scrambling for a path forward. Finally, she lied to my disability insurance company about several things to make herself look competent. This of course lost me my income at the time. Not recommended."
"This place is acceptable for mental health treatment. The positives: Reception is fantastic. They are helpful, responsive, prompt, and flexible with scheduling changes. They worked with me to get a prescription refilled at the last minute and I cannot thank them enough. Dan Levin is a wonderful psychologist who helped me through some major life changes. He was always patient and kind even when I called after hours. I recommend him to anyone looking for a great therapist. He truly cares about his patients! The psychiatrists are another story. They tend not to be good listeners and invalidate your feelings and symptoms. My appointments were consistently cut short and many encounters were rude and unprofessional. I cannot speak for everyone, but I do wish that PSSC would have offered a consultation to help me find the right provider for my needs. I suggest going elsewhere for a good psychiatrist."
"I feel this clinic is falling down and now past its prime, and ready for the bulldozer. The building is old school and looks downright depressing and distressing. It is surrounded by modern, and it looks out of place. Parking is atrocious and dangerous. It has been three years since I have been able to actually see my real doctor with all visits being virtual. I understand that to some extent, but not completely. I feel the quality of care even from the good doctor I have has fallen off. There is no real electronic portal for progress reports except to mail them in or inconveniently drop them off. They still use a fax machine I believe, and I have no access to one of them. There is no intake email. This place just wreaks of the 1970s and not in a good way any longer. Perhaps their fee charge rates are lower due to the lower overhead, or they are just making a good penney, hard to say. While one should not judge by looks alone, when the appearance and operation of the place seems to be taking second fiddle, it makes you wonder about the practices all inside too. I am not even sure they have as many MDs as they used to. I have been with the doctor for many years, and it is sad to see this place fall into shoddy condition."
