About the Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area
ished in the mid-19th century by the California Rock Company. The company was later acquired by Pacific Portland Cement Company, which also owned the nearby cement plant. The quarries provided the limestone needed for the cement plant, which was shut down in 1986 due to a drop in demand for cement.
In the mid-1990s, the East Bay Regional Park District acquired the land and transformed it into the beautiful recreational area it is today. Quarry Lakes now offers a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy, from picnicking and boating to hiking and wildlife viewing. With its rich history and stunning natural beauty, Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area is a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.

Reviews of Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area
"Very beautiful and quiet. Extremely well upkept. It's very scenic. Looks great for fishing and picnicking. They say they is no charge for Handicapped, but we were charged $5 to enter."
"Beautiful area with stellar views. I was surprised to see fall colors this time of the year! The trails are well maintained. Went here after the recent rains and the trails were not muddy. This is a beautiful spot to catch sunset as well. Great spot for families, kids and also to grab some coffee and lunch by the lake."
"This place is a hidden gem. It's a huge park but there is no kids jungle gym. Very nice walk around the lake and good fishing spot."
"I was so surprised to find such a big lakes area in Fremont. I love the stunning views and enjoy the hiking. The reason i rate it four star is the rough road condition which makes shoes very dirty. Winds are big during sunset. Not suitable for generals. Worth to note that, this area has dears. So far, facilities are not supplied really well because many restrooms are not open after 6pm."
