Reviews of Bateman Park
"Great kids' playground!!!! I walked there with my goddaughter, and she loved it!!! She's almost 4 There were a few other kids, all around her age. They had fun racing up and down the sidewalk!! They have a merry-go-round, swings, a see-saw and a REALLY tall kids' slide (I had to go down the slide with her)... There are tons of toy ovens and pretend kitchen sets, and a plastic house and tons of toys for imaginative youngsters!!! It's right next to Alta Bates, right behind it, and, we really enjoyed going there, yesterday!!!"
"Small fenced park with swings, roundabout, and teeter totters on sand. Several donated toys, most of which are somewhat broken but the kids enjoy them anyway. A couple of picnic tables on a small lawn."
"A lovely, intimate little park of which there are so few!"
"Small rectangle of grass without much shade. What I like is that there's essentially no traffic noise, and you can hear the sound of children having fun because of the playground next door."
"This is a great pocket park hidden behind the hospital. The amazing thing is that it has play items from decades ago, that you won't find in most Bay Area parks because they are "too dangerous." They have a real metal push-powered 'merry-go-round,' metal spiral slide, teeter-totters that one kids can jump off of and the other kid goes careening to the ground. My joke is that it's here to ensure the hospital gets enough business, but I'm sure these 'dangerous' play structures would be removed if kids were really getting hurt on them."
