Reviews of Water Dog Lake South Trailhead
"Best hiking place in Belmont. It's best to start the hike @7 am or before. It's partially shady so prepare for the sun rays. It's good to have water , a hat and sunscreen. It's good to go with a group. You could see the bobcat warning. It's steep in some locations but can be easily done with kids. It has a restroom at the entrance."
"A moderate hike with a steady ascent, several steep climbs, and loose gravel rocks. Lake Loop, John Brooks, Chaparral, Elevator trails. Rewarding vista views, beautiful wild flowers. Good hiking shoes recommend."
"Gorgeous trail in Belmont, truly a hidden gem! We saw 3 deer during our 45 minute hike. Great trails for walking or biking, beautiful nature!"
"Lots of interconnected hiking trails. There are some easy trails. The moderate ones are Berry trail and John Brooks (connecting to chaparral trail). Generally well paved. Lots of rocks which necessitates good hiking shoes. Overall if you want to hike the entire green space it takes 2-3 hours. Breathtaking views on your way and lots of wild flowers. Watch out for bikers and Keep your dogs on leash please. Thanks"
"A great system of trails. They are very dog friendly (but only on leash), but we assume that’s because the city of Belmont is also allowing bicyclists and mountain bikers on these trails. At the time of writing this, the chaparral trail is closed due to the severe rain and winds knocking down trees. The views from the top of the hills are great!"
