"Imagine working for and dealing with a business where one in every ten reviews is only one star. I work at a local business that this post office has an open dislike for. Knowing this ahead of time, I ordered a package from Etsy that I knew would unfortunately be shipped via USPS. Worst of all, ELKHORN's USPS. Notably lacking in almost all categories. I prepared for this by ensuring all my ducks were in a row regarding delivery instructions and recipient names, as well as a very clear address. The birthday gift I ordered tracked being scanned in by them, then promptly returned to sender in the same day. After reading this, I immediately visited their office and waited until their lobby doors opened that morning. I provided all my details and documents to the initial clerk, who as most of the people who've left reviews here have noted was clueless. As if I was the first customer she's ever seen or handled. But the supervisor she brought to the counter was abhorrently worse. I asked her why they chose not to deliver my package when earlier in the same week they'd delivered one with the same delivery name and instructions. She made up arbitrary jargon on the spot while simultaneously getting snippy with me as if I was the problem. I then asked her what determines the consistency of what packages get delivered. She blamed it on the delivery driver who had the route that day, and that it was "by her discretion." So, admittedly, they choose what to deliver and what not to. Finally, she went on to say that I was "lucky I even got the first one." A warm thank you, Elkhorn USPS, for the considerable talent you have working on your team. Clearly the post master enforces this type of attitude and work ethic. What a great place to open up a post office."
"No mail delivery for three business days. Outgoing package in box for three days as well. Called post office and recording said they were closed and hours stated they were open till five. I called at 4pm. WTH."
"I had two different packages that had been stuck in limbo for days. Yesterday i went in thinking they would tell me they were lost and to contact the sellers. Boy was I wrong they went above and beyond to help me. Right away they knew the answer for one package a shipping label was made but the package was never sent. The other was stuck in Oak Creek for some reason. The gentleman who was helping me said he would look into it. Within 2 hours I got a text and a call saying it will be delivered today. Just now I got another call from the post office saying they did have the package and it is out for delivery. I did contact the sell about the other item and that should be here tomorrow. This is not the first time they went above and beyond to help me. My son is deployed in Kosovo and would have trouble with the custom forms when I sent him a package. The women there always took their time and patience to help me. I moved to Elkhorn 5 years ago from the Chicago area where I would never have gotten the personable touch. A big Thank You Elkhorn Post Office."
"I've been to so many small town post offices that were super friendly, and this just isn't one. I needed to send some paperwork through certified mail and wasn't sure how it all worked. The first clerk was extremely kind and helpful, and we started filling out all of our stuff. Unfortunately it seems she left for lunch after our conversation. We finished our paperwork and headed to the counter to meet a different clerk. She was on her cell phone and we waited at the counter for a minute before she even acknowledged we were there. Immediately it was clear she had no interest in being helpful and our simple questions were just opportunities for her to be snarky and rude. It was incredibly unprofessional. I ended up just paying for the envelopes we needed and left to actually mail them in Whitewater. I asked her name and she proudly said "Angie" as if she couldn't care less about the level of customer service she provided. To the postmaster -- please consider some staffing changes or serious discussions about workplace behavior. I have a lot of respect for the post office and hope it has a long future. With folks like Angie on the front line it puts the future of the USPS at risk."
