Windy Ridge Ranch

"Not great for my neurodiverse kid. Instructor was not willing to change any of his techniques to accommodate my child. After a major safety incident when a group of beginners horses joined a stampede occurring in the field next to the trail where many students fell off, he failed to process the event and many students left after that, including mine. He also did not encourage my child to learn to groom and tack up the horse even when he was the age when other neurotypical kids started to learn these skills, instead using his bias to tell me he was not ready. One day with a new instructor my child was doing these activities. Would not recommend to anybody whose child has anxiety, is neurodiverse, or learns differently."

"I’ve taken lessons at 2 other places in the area and Windy Ridge is by far, my favorite. The atmosphere is so relaxed and I learn so much every lesson. The experience of catching your own horse and tacking up on your own without a trainer watching your every move was always a relief, after they initially teach you of course. During the lessons, Mark usually does excercises and games with the class, that always makes it fun. You will notice how well taken care of the horses are and how knowledgeable the owners are. At the other ranch locations, the horses were always SO tense and skittish-it made a beginner rider nervous to ride them. The horses at Windy Ridge are so relaxed and have taught me just as much about riding as the owners."

"I love WRR. I started riding there last year (2016) in march. My first lesson was on Prince a wonderful dark bay quarter horse and now i'm in advanced beginner lessons, ride Bingo (the only pony) and lease Prince. My experience here is the best then what i had at my old lesson facility, everyone here is friendly and helpful. Mark is certainly the best trainer i've met so far. They have many advantages that you most likely wouldn't get at other facilities like being in multiple shows (schooling, gaming or just fun), two teams you could be on J.E.Ts or the wrr drill team. I joined JETs and it certainly helped me meet more people :) would recommend to anyone out there."

"Unless you are an enthusiastic little girl who LOVE HORSES!! this place is not for you. My child loves riding horses, and is a great rider, but has some anxiety which sometimes came out before getting on the horse. Rather than being understanding about the situation, they told us my child could not ride there anymore. They are certainly not understanding and accommodating to all abilities."

"Windy Ridge is the BEST place I've ever ridden at. I've ridden at 2 other places, one that started out nice but the trainer turned out to be suuuper mean, the other that did lessons just for money, and only cared about you if you were a perfect rider.Windy Ridge is just a really comfortable place to be at. The horses are so sweet and well behaved, and Mark and his wife Katie are very nice. There are also tons of people that are willing to help you or answer a question if you need it. I highly recommend going here, you'll have sooo much fun!"
