"It's a very nice setting for the students. It's community-oriented and the student population is very diverse."
"One of the nicer dorms on campus for students. Plus you get your own room"
"Really high quality rooms. If your willing to pay the price hike would definitely recommend!"
"Lived here for one year during Sophomore year, while the interior is a little bland it offers a lot of privacy that the other dorms simply couldn't offer you, while the parking complaints you've likely heard are all true you quickly get use to it...During the fall and spring, it's not a big deal...The winter does suck...Overall, I enjoyed living here my final year of dorm life!"
"Bait and Switch. This year we were told after everyone got to campus and long after everyone signed up for their rooms last year that hot plates and even toasters are no longer allowed in the "kitchens" in the suites (which have no ovens or stoves). So basically we are paying $1000 more than dorms for almost nothing. Infested with bugs for most of the academic year (it is mid December and I still see a few around the doors) box-elder bugs coat the south and east sides of the building. They regularly cover the door handles and key-card pads and will jump/fall on you as you walk through the doorway. I've been fortunate enough to only have two get into my room through a large gap in the ceiling. Work orders take forever and the online service desk provides no information which requires calling the maintenance desk and navigating their misleading phone system to find out that "they'll get to it" with no info regarding when. The cleaning person was supposed to come once every other week last year which turned into every 6 weeks and then this year he was supposed to come once per month which turned into once every other month (He is nice though and does a good job so not his fault as much as his supervisors'). The east door was broken for 2.5 months and would on average require 3 or more tries just to open. Damages to rooms are not repaired over summer and the space on the check-in sheet is very limited so you have to use very general terms to try and cover everything and hope that you aren't charged for damages that you didn't cause when you check out. Not to mention that there's no way to notice and record every damage in suite and bedroom in the rushed time you're given during move in day while all of your possessions sit in the hot sun in your vehicle. You're only given 15 minutes to unload during move-in. That's enough for like 4 bags if you live on the first floor. Average move-in for most people takes about a half hour (without unpacking). There is no definite loading/unloading area around the building. There is a loading zone on the front side of the building but it is also part of the fire lane and I have seen people ticketed there so the sign likely either only applies to deliveries or is in error. Frequent wing meetings that amount to information that anyone who has lived here for a semester has already heard and that could just be provided in a small paragraph via email. Front desk is almost never open aside from very limited periods around late morning and early evening usually for about 2 hours. This makes package pickup very difficult and makes it nearly impossible to get an order in a timely manner. The south door which is the primary point of access to the nearest resident parking lot (via 7 flights of stairs btw so if you plan to live here and drive you better get used to stairs) had no loading zone until they decided to put one in over summer except it is reserved only for university use which is clearly a slap in the face for everyone that lives in the building because we've been asking for one for a long time but instead of providing us with one they give it only to themselves. Dumpsters are only on the west side of the building which makes garbage disposal tedious at best. Garbage trucks come and go at 7am every day and sometimes 11pm with 1 or 2 other stops during the day so be prepared to be woken up at the crack of- engine noises and loud trash if you live on the the north west side of the building. Elevators are small and unreasonably slow. Only one goes to the ground floor on the south side of the building. They seem to be old enough that they aren't programmed to at least have one go back to the main floor because there is never one on the main floor even though that's where half of the traffic comes from. Has no basement for tornado sheltering. Laundry is on the edge of the first floor and the web portal does not differentiate between machines that are finished but still full and machines that are ready to be used so be ready to carry your entire load of laundry back and forth."
