"Barry is the Man. He is knowledgable and savvy and truly takes the time to help and educate his clients. It's rare to come by someone who is so experienced/seasoned in their craft, but who still keeps up and is actively interested in new taxing complexities (like cryptocurrency, e.g.). We're lucky to have found him."
"My father-in-law uses Mr. Matthews and we started working w/ him 3 years ago and LOVE LOVE LOVE him. He is the best CPA we know and he takes time to explain as well as educate if you want it. Thanks Barry!"
"I started having Barry do my taxes in 2011 and have never had a reason to look elsewhere. He is incredibly thorough and makes sure my documentation is complete and honest. I appreciate his thorough knowledge of his field and his ability to explain complicated tax laws to me in layman's terms."
"Barry has been doing my taxes for over 10 years, he is very knowledgable and has made tax deadlines far less stressful for me."
"Barry has been doing my taxes since 1997. He is very personable and always did a god job. Sometimes I would catch little errors and omissions but nothing huge. Over the years it got harder to contact him once he was working on my return. It was very frustrating to not get calls back unless I called 3 times and left sharp messages for him. I like him and I have been with him so long so I always tried to ignore errors. Finally he made a huge error and I had to pay back over three thousand dollars to the IRS because he took a earned income credit on one of my children that I wasn't suppose to get. It was hard to pay that back but I had only had the money for 3 months and I should have not gotten that credit on my return so I was OK paying it back. It was my ex-wife's H&R block tax person that caught the mistake. The final straw was when he made and error on my 2008 tax return because he didn't carry back a state loss to 2007. This error was caught on the 2013 return when he tried to use the loss against income for that year and the state said no you can't do that because you didn't use it on your 2007 return and he forgot to check the box saying that he was carrying it forward. He said that he was going to get it resolved but it ended up I owed the state $1794.00 and Barry wouldn't pay for all of it. He paid $1000.00 toward the mistake he made and I had to pay the other $794.00. I figured after 17 years with him, he should cover the entire amount for his mistake. It's very sad because I felt he was like family and I felt he was a moral person but in the end he wasn't and I feel crushed and I have to find a new accountant. You think it would have been worth it to him to pay all the penalty so he wouldn't get a negative review from a customer of 17 years."
