"This is an overdue review. My buddy recommended Stephanie to me since the usual place I go, didn't have appointments until April (This was early February time frame). Unfortunately, due to military commitment, I would be out of the country in April. I called Valley Tax Service and made an appointment for the first week in March, I was charged $300 at the time to secure my appointment. Well, the day comes, I walked in, and I was greeted and told to have a seat in their waiting area. I was intrigued by the train sets they had, I'm assuming they sold them as well. A few minutes later, I was told Stephanie was ready for me and was escorted to her office. Stephanie was professional and welcoming during my appointment. My appointment lasted about 45 - 60 minutes. That tax year, my income and situation changed +/- $2K from the previous year. When Stephanie shared my return, I asked why it was a few thousand lower than the previous year and not much changed since the year before. She assured me, she was giving me everything I was entitled to. She also shared that my return would be mailed in. This method would ensure the IRS would go over my return and ensure it is correct verse using e-file. A few days later, I received a letter (Attched) from them advising my return was ready for pickup, and I still owed another $300. I called Valley Tax Service as I assumed it was an error, the lady who I spoke with, I don't recall her name (I believe it was Stephanie's mother or mother in law) apologized, but advised the total service fee would $600, no one mention it at anytime duringmy appointment. I was a little shocked, since I have NEVER paid over $200. But then I thought, perhaps Stephanie is knowledgeable of all the laws and will get me everything I'm entitled to and my return amount changed since my appointment. I was wrong, nothing changed. Since then, I have continued to utilize my usual place and pay 1/5 of this price (I have never been audited nor the business I go to). I will say, you will be seen within a few minutes from your appointment time. Overall, service was not worth or even close to $600."
