Reviews of River City RV Repair
"River City RV mobile repair services responded on 3 separate occasions to my rv park for issues on my diesel pusher: awning spring install, diagnostic service appointment, and furnace blower motor replaced. I am full time and future rv projects were planned over the phone with contact named Toby; I also asked him for receipts not given by technicians at the time repairs were completed, (I still haven’t received any receipts for ANY repairs performed by River City RV Repair). I also gave their contact info to senior neighbor named Ted that urgently requested service, but then he cancelled the River City appointment at the last minute; there’s nothing I could do about that. But after that, Toby wouldn’t return my phone call. I tried several times. The furnace motor lasted about a year before (actually only utilized less than that during heating season) before making loud squealing seized bearing sounds. To investigate the issue, I removed shelving to access the furnace and found the galvanized heat shield laying unsecured on the floor; there were several screws strewn on the floor as well. The motorhome hasn’t been driven and the screws didn’t magically back themselves out. The mobile technicians call Toby upon job completion for finalizing mobile job charges(or at least that was the procedure I experienced ). There was an awkward moment upon completion of my last repair, (furnace), when the technician and Toby argued on the phone discussing my final bill amount; the technician asserted he had completed other work unrelated to my job prior to arriving and therefore not billable (to me), whereas Toby maintained that other time should’ve been billed to me as well. I had already paid a separate diagnostic fee on a separate service call. Reliable RV service is hard to find in this area; that has been my experience. I guess my quest for RV services continues (elsewhere)."
"We had a vent/fan installed assuming it would be placed down the center of our travel trailer as every vent, light, AC and skylights are on every other RV. It was installed near the edge of the outside wall. It functions yes. I asked before leaving, Matt the owner, why it was placed where it was and was told that he would ask the installer. As the owner of the company do you not oversee all the work done? He did not get back to me and when contacted later to get an answer he told Jill in the office to call me. She left a message stating that I had left it up to their discretion me assuming they would put in the center. My mistake, not being direct I telling them exactly where I wanted it ($1100 mistake) Also, was told beforehand it would be 2-3hrs labor and it ended being 5hours. It is my fault for trusting a business whom I thought knew what they were doing."
"They sealed my RV roof 3 - 4 years ago. I was told to have it resealed every 3 years. I am now out of the area and here is what the current fellow found (see photos). Matt bought this business from a friend with a sterling reputation who told me when he looked at photos - To do it right you need to scrap out all the old and clean with denatured alcohol and the fill the cavity with no sag caulking and the go over it with self leveling caulk, that way it will have good base and will last for years, then it should be spot checked and repair every 3 to 4 years. Stay far away from this place, especially if you cherish your RV."
"We had the bedroom slide repaired on our Montana 5th wheel. Everyone there was friendly, informative and professional. The repair was done on time and on budget. If only the factory built it as well as River City repaired it. If you have the opportunity to do business with them - take it."
"Took my rv to Matt to have my generator and dash air fixed. Starting when cold the generator. would run for half hour to 45 min then die. A day or two before I took it to him I changed the oil, air filter, and spark plug ( this particular generator has no oil filter). I also installed a new fuel pump on it. I called for a status report the next day. I was told the generator needed to be serviced. I asked what that entailed and was told oil change, oil filter ( doesn’t have one) spark plug and air filter. During that conversation I did not tell him that had just been done. I told him to proceed with diagnosing the generator problem. I was told it needed a new fuel pump. He would use only an OEM pump. Since he already had my motorhome, I told him to go ahead as long as the new $260.00 plus his labor to install would fix the problem of it dying. He would not guarentee it would keep my generator running. Also, at this point, my generator would not run at all. I should have picked it up then, but I didn’t. He said the high pressure side of the ac was low, and the low pressure side was high, and that this was caused by overfilling the system with refrigerant. A few days later after not hearing from him, I called again asking about the A.C. He said they couldn’t find what was wrong, He never mentioned the mis diagnosis . Upon questioning him, I found out when the pressures were tested, the compressor was not running! The reason the compressor was not running is because the clutches were not engaging, and he did not know why the clutches were not engaging. During this ( our last phone conversation which was a week after taking it there) he asked me if I spilled oil while changing the generator oil, because the generator compartment had oil all over. So I asked him since the generator compartment had oil in it why didn’t he mention that to me during our first conversation. He said it took a while ( a number of days) for that information to get to him. So I asked him how it was determined that the generator needed to be serviced. If the generator was examined then at first look the oil in the compartment would have been obvious and I should have been told during our first conversation. But if it wasn’t looked at, then how did he know it needed to be serviced. He did not have an answer as to why the ac pressure was tested without the compressor running. I told him my motorhome is in worse shape now than when I dropped it off. After paying him over a thousand dollars to get my coach back, I told him what I thought of him and his operation. He told me the world would be better off without me, and I was a psycho. I told one of the gals in the office she worked for a thief. Her response was “I work for a paycheck” She knows !"
