"Captivating beach with black, pebbly shore nestled on the Lost Coast. The size of the rocks range from quite large with white striations to fine sand-like grains. We were a bit worried that the kids wouldn’t find “typical” sand to play with—they quickly found the black sand! Easy and plentiful parking with Restrooms and info boards. Also a gateway to several trail heads that run along the surrounding ridge. Please follow the warning signs for avoiding the beach’s shoreline ….the waves here dangerous."
"Beautiful rocky black sand beach. Wearing shoes is recommended. My mom walked in sandals and had her feet hurting from the rocky ground. Water is so blue and the sound of the water rolling back to the ocean after a wave was unreal."
"Beautiful beach! We spent a couple of hours here, watching the sea otters in both the small (freshwater?) pond and in the strong surf (one was enjoying a fish lunch and let us watch pretty close up). The surf is as dangerous as advertised and we only put toes in. We all enjoyed climbing the big rock, laying on the warm, smooth rocks, and walking way up and down the beach. Parking is very limited and you will have to walk down one way or another. But worth it."
"An absolutely incredible beach. It took my breath away and was so relaxing. It was very cool to hear the waves hit the rocks since they are so powerful here. The beach looks very different after sunset."
"One of the most beautiful and most accessible black sand beaches on the Lost Coast. There is limited parking but you can park up the street and it is not a far walk. Be carful! The waves can surprise you and take you out on a rough day."
