"Don't waste your time with Alexis & Sons. We needed the carpets cleaned in our apartment, and my husband and I were separately quoted a low price (~$105 to $140) to clean two larger living rooms and our front entry stairs (about half of our apartment). We both described our apartment in detail, and let the dispatcher know the approximate size of the space when we were quoted. The technician was scheduled at 10:00 a.m. today. They called and asked to reschedule to noon. I called at 12:15 and they told me they were 40 minutes away. We tried to contact dispatch to see if anyone was closer. The first time we called dispatch, we never received a call back. The second time we called, they said they didn't have a record of our appointment in the system (which doesn't make sense, since the technician had my number and address). The original technician finally made it to our apartment by about 1:10 p.m. He quoted us $720 to clean the two rooms and the stairs. He told us the discrepancy was because "the rooms were larger" (which we told dispatch) and "there are some stains." He also told us that cleaning our stairs would be a problem because "the machine is too big/heavy," and he didn't have an extension cord. We did not proceed with the cleaning. I understand that sometimes the price of a quote will increase based on site condition, but conveyed the size of our space and our expectations around cleaning. A $600 discrepancy, along with the various issues in scheduling and communications, is unprofessional at best. We've wasted a lot of time packing up our apartment and waiting for a technician, and now we're scrambling for an alternative."
