"I hate how all the beds are close together. I felt incredibly unsafe THE ENTIRE TIME. Only a small coffee table separates us from the next patient!! The entire time I felt like I was going to get touched/assaulted/taken advantage of! There is zero privacy, at least as much as we can get from a mental hospital. Speaking of the beds theyre not even real beds theyre the most uncomfortable couch recliner things. Also I couldn't even get my inhaler for at least 16 hours and I was really struggling without it. I just wish there were actual rooms/space from other patients especially considering everyone in there is unpredictable. Super weird felt like a giant screwed up sleepover."

"Apparently they will turn you away if you're fat. Went to ER instead, who never even gave me my regular meds for 2 days. Was discharged to go home after I got some "rest" even though I told them I didn't feel safe at home and was hearing voices. I guess if you're fat no one cares if you die."

"Diagnosed me and had me take medication for something then never wrote down a formal diagnosis. A few people had been there for several days and told to sit patiently and told nothing. Wouldnt let me call anyone and sent my potentially suicidal self home in a taxi with a stranger. Turns out my parents had been calling all morning to as when pickup was, and they refused to tell them. DO NOT COME HERE"

"I was there for a night, took care of me, hospital food, and gave me meds for the night and gave me a plan on medications, blood and urine tests were done, and referral to therapists. It’s a place where you need care quick and it’s open 24 hrs. Beds aren’t good but I say it’s good for guidance. It isn’t a hotel."

"I was discharged from the CSU yesterday, and I do not recommend coming here if you are truly having a mental health crisis. The ER at Palomar sent me here following voluntarily checking in due to a suicide plan. After 13hrs in the ER, which is a different story, I was brought here at 11pm, checked in, and told to go to sleep. They offer you a chair to sleep in, which was very uncomfortable, but at least they offer a place to sleep. After waking up, I saw an NP, who asked a few questions, such as how I slept, and what brought me in. I was in tears the whole time we spoke, and she said she’d come talk to me a little later. After two hours, she came back, we spoke again, again I was in tears, and even though I told her I wasn’t sure if I was ready to go home, she discharged me a few hours later. Before leaving, a tech made me an appointment with a “psychiatrist” at Vista Community Clinic for the next day, which is today. I googled him just now, before my appointment, and he actually made me an appointment with a urology specialist. I need my medications adjusted, I do not need a urologist. I didn’t get to talk to a therapist, no one helped me to find a therapist, no one did anything actually. You sit in a chair all day and watch tv. This is also supposed to be a low acuity unit, but there was a woman there who came from jail whom we all got to see try to breakout, have an attack, and they called security and then sedated her. Then we watched a young man with a mental disability do the same, start banging his head on the wall, and then they sedated him. This place is a waste of your money, of the county’s money, and insurances money. A real waste of time when you are in a crisis and need help. Especially in the state the world is in right now, Palomar needs to do better."
