UCSF Emergency Department

"My wife is with a bleeding wound in her head and It’s our 3rd hour of wait. She is in pain and I asked them twice to at least give her some Tylenol. They’ve said “sure, just wait a bit” and 2 hours later nothing happened. There is also no pharmacy on premises so I HAD TO USE INSTACART TO GET TYLENOL IN THE ER. This is beyond ridiculous."

"Don't go unless you are literally about to die. I went there at 9pm on a weekday because my eyes were hurting massively and the UCSF ophthalmologist that couldn't give me a same day appointment told me to go there if I felt pain. The receptionist was too busy chatting and laughing with her co-workers to check in people. When she did make time she had a terrible attitude, borderline rude. There were insufficient chairs for everyone waiting. I got charged over $2,200 to see a nurse that took my blood pressure and made me read some letters. They told me to wait for the doctor, I waited many hours, they couldn't tell me how much more I would have to wait but at midnight another patient said she had been waiting since 2pm. I ended up leaving, later, another UCSF doctor checked my chart and said I would have been called at 5.30am. Insane that they still bill you even if you don't see a doctor and receive ZERO treatment and help."

"The nurses and staff are so immune to the complaints. They just ignore the request from patients. The service is very poor. This patient had a deep wound and they left her sitting only for 4 hours. She also had a broken wrist , and head injury. The lobby became a homeless camp after 5pm. I would pick another hospital!"

"Best experience ever. They're fast they're professional. The staff is trained and so knowledgeable. I dropped the plate on my foot and they had to remove my toenail. We nothing too fancy but I appreciate it it. Thanks for doing a good job. My toenail grew back perfect."
