Reviews of Mission Heritage Medical Group - Mission Viejo Endocrinology
"I saw a doctor in this group, who was excellent and prescribed injections in the office. Then the trouble began. Their appointment scheduler has no people skills- she's polite but couldn't act less interested in her job or helping patients. I checked in for the first injection and after 40 minutes asked what was going on. They had checked me in for an appointment with a completely different doctor insted of an injection! After waiting another 30 minutes, they said my doctor needed to OK the injection. But that had already been done the week before. I politely informed them I was leaving and not coming back. It will be interesting to see if anyone contacts me to follow up on what happened."
"I’m still being billed almost a year later for a lab draw. This office really doesn’t seem like they know what they’re doing, from the front desk to the providers themselves. I’ve been coming here for years, and I’ve only seen the doctor once. I do not think the providers do a good job or are up to date with the most recent healthcare practices. They seem to get kickbacks from pushing certain devices and medicines on patients."
"My doctor referred me to see an endocrinologist after test results showed signs of hypoglycemia. I went to see Sarita S Dhakal and I've never been more disappointed with a medical provider in my life for the following reasons: 1. She was rude, condescending and short with me. At one point during my appointment she said I should seek mental health care. While I'm a firm believer in mental health treatment, Sarita had no basis to make this recommendation. I spoke to her about my blood glucose for roughly 20 mins. She knows nothing about me personally. She was out of line professionally. 2. She made zero attempt to identify the underlying cause of my symptoms and was quick to prescribe meds without doing any further testing. 3. I requested some resources/guidelines on what to eat in order to prevent my blood glucose from dropping to the 40's overnight as it had been doing. She provided me with vague recommendations that weren't at all concrete. I again reached out to her when my glucose continued to drop to these levels overnight because I was experiencing migraine headaches. She told me she couldn't help with migraines and I was on my own there. The migraines were a direct result of the drop in glucose. After 2 visits with Sarita it was obvious that I needed to seek care elsewhere if I wanted to get any relief. I made an appointment with an endocrinologist at ucla medical center and my experience was a million times better. The doctor I met with listened to me and explained 4 possible underlying causes of my symptoms in great detail. He then scheduled additional testing to either properly diagnose or rule out the culprits. He also answered my questions and gave me very specific recommendations on a diet to follow to avoid the night time lows. Unfortunately Sarita didn't take my condition seriously even though I was dropping to comatose states overnight. The only positive part of this experience is that it gave me a firm understanding that you have to be your own advocate for your health and quickly seek alternatives when you're getting sub par care."
"I am beyond frustrated with how this practice handles new patients. They offer no help with trying to facilitate getting your medical records or making the appointment process simple. You can't even schedule an appointment unless they receive your records and review them, then decide if they can see you - not to mention appointments are already booked months out. It took me a month to get my records sent to them, they never called to say they received them and try to schedule me. Once I did contact them, there was only one new doctor they said was accepting new patients and could see me. Miraculously she had an opening in 2 days because of a cancellation. Well they called me the next day to say nope, she wasn't available after all and her next opening was NOVEMBER! I don't even know what to say. This might be the norm now with specialists but I would think at LEAST your office staff could have a more professional and customer-service oriented demeanor. They left me on hold for almost 20 minutes so I hung up and called back and the same person answered the phone and said oh you were on hold? I mean I JUST spoke to her! I know a few women who go to this practice and the doctors sound amazing. It is just unfortunate the experience with the office staff and getting an appointment has been terrible."
"The phone system always seems to be broken. Calling and selecting "1" to schedule an appointment more often than not results in disconnection. I have typically had to call 7 or 8 times before actually getting through to be put on hold and then hope nobody disconnects me before I speak to a human. Then, when I finally do talk to someone, they are always distracted. I was asked to repeat myself multiple times while speaking to the receptionist because someone else was clearly speaking to her in office and she was trying to pay attention to both of us. This is life/death stuff here. I had zero confidence that the message I was sending was going to be relayed correctly. I really like doctor Bui, but the roadblocks to get to her are terrible. I have to schedule appointments so far out, then if a conflict arises (when patient is a college student whose schedule changes every 3 months, this happens), rescheduling is a nightmare. The office staff said they get 800 phone calls a day and shrugged when I complained about the phone issues. So it seems they need more staff or a better equipped phone/hold/voicemail system."
