"Peerless is charming and eclectic, and historic! We came in the front door and were greeted by a warm crackling fire in the fireplace! Which is where we chose to sit and enjoy champagne! This was our 3rd stay, I think? The first stay, we were upstairs and the room was tight, but who cares! It was warm, comfy and only one night. Easy to manage with a small "carry on" bag. We have now been in Room 1 and 2 downstairs - love them both! They are roomier and the bedding is luscious! The common areas are inviting and we walk everywhere and take in a nice dinner and a play. I called the hotel once, and was answered right away! We love the air bnb style check in! Parking is a cinch, the Peerless Restaurant is next door. We could not ask for more! Until next time ... "My partner and I have had the pleasure of staying at the Peerless on two occasions, and it has unequivocally become our preferred hotel in Ashland. Despite our visits being a couple of years apart, our most recent stay afforded us the opportunity to revel in the breathtaking new renovations that the hotel has undergone. Securing our reservation through a third-party booking agency, we found the keyless, self-check-in system to be remarkably convenient. As travelers who cover a considerable distance, the seamless check-in process allowed us to settle in without the need for extensive interactions. The property itself is nothing short of spectacular—charming, cozy, and meticulously detailed. Substantial upgrades, particularly in the common areas, have taken place since our last visit. The front entry exudes warmth with an ambient fireplace, antique furniture, and intriguing artifacts, including captivating images of the hotel's resident ghost from the past. Our chosen abode, room 3, was a grand three-room suite that exuded romance. The ambient lighting, flickering candle lights in antique lamps, and thoughtful touches like champagne and chocolates on the bed created an enchanting atmosphere. Attention to detail was evident, with two side-by-side clawfoot tubs in the spacious bathroom, a sitting room featuring a fireplace, and various inviting corners to relax. The bed provided an exceptionally comfortable haven, contributing to a restful three-night stay. The main common area/sitting room, where complimentary coffee, tea, and water are available around the clock, was another highlight. We appreciated the diverse selection of games that added to our enjoyment. While the hotel offers three parking spots in the rear, our large truck found ample space in the front on-street parking. The location in a quiet neighborhood was a delightful escape from our urban routine. Exploring downtown and the charming neighborhood, replete with beautiful homes and local wildlife like deer and squirrels, added to our overall enjoyment. It's worth noting that the staircase leading to the upstairs rooms is somewhat narrow. However, a straightaway staircase on the right side of the building provides a more navigable route to the second floor, especially when handling luggage. Checking in through the front or back door and opening it from the inside ensures a smooth entry."
"I enjoyed our stay we stayed in room 7 - it was perfect for the exception of no TV we were trying to see a few mins of a show but due to lack of TV it wasnt possible- we saw it on our phones instead. Other than that the location was great we walked to dinner and always love to come Visit Ashland from San Francisco. I would highly recommend this place to anyone."
"My husband and I stayed in room 5 and room 6 in July. We were happy to have a charger for our car and that was why we decided to book the Peerless. The rooms were quite small with barely enough room to move around the bed. The price was high before the additional cleaning fees and with the fees we paid $418 for room 6. The furniture felt too big for the rooms and not functional making the small rooms feel even smaller. For the price of the room, I would have expected an air conditioner which would have made the temperature in our room tolerable. We won’t be going back."
"We were driving home to California from Seattle and booked a one night stay here. I got really excited when I saw the hotel on the listing. Coming from the bay area and visiting the Winchester Mystery house several times growing up, this place reminded me of WMC. Our room didn't disappoint. It was so cool and well decorated. We stayed in suite 3 which had 2 claw foot tubs. The whole hotel was quirky, fun, and eccentric! I wasn't prepared for the narrow steep staircase up to our room or the fact that there was no front desk person to check us in. The lack of people and the quietness added to the ghostly/historic feel. I would stay here again but either stay on the bottom floor or only bring a small weekend bag as climbing the stairs with anything larger is rather difficult. From reading previous reviews, It seems there used to be more amenities provided with a stay here. Those would have made the stay extra special."
