"I totally agree another parent. This school leadership has lost focus of what is truly important which is stress honesty, courtesy, responsibility. They can't keep good teachers. They lost most good traditional teachers. The management team members can't resolve problems impartially."
"My son is in 1st grade at Foothill Country Day School. We love the school. The teachers are really nice and caring. We meet with the teachers for parent/teacher conferences and we can tell that they really do understand him and his behavior. My son has the best experience here. I feel comfortable sending him to school every day. I've never heard of him or any one experiencing any bullying. The school always talks about love, kindness, and inclusiveness. I think it's a wonderful environment that nurtures confidence, creativity, and talent."
"Foothill Country Day School is plagued by bad decisions by the Head of School, Mr. S. He retains the wrong teachers. He does not renew the teachers who are actually good with kids. He has no vision for the future of the school. He does not solicit feedback from parents. Many of my kid's teachers at the Webb School have said that Foothill is no better than Claremont Public Schools. Perhaps most importantly, the school is coasting on a reputation that was established some time ago, and now the high cost simply doesn't translate to a better education. If I had it to do all over again, I would put my kids in Chapparal Elementary School and El Roble Middle School, save nearly $200,000 that I wasted on Foothill, and supplement my kids' education with some amazing summer experiences. I won't be able to recommend Foothill until the School Board signals that they get it and are making a leadership change."
"We thought Foothill would provide a great education academically and build a strong character in our child. We were very wrong academically the children learn to memorize a lot of information without any application. The schools use of technology consists of playing games and typing. As far as building character, our child's experiences included their personal property being stolen, being told their class was the worst class on campus, and being bullied to the point where they no longer wanted to go to school. The head master and dean of students were fully aware of what was going on and ignored the dituation. In fact the headmaster did not even return our phone calls. When we went to discuss the matter with the dean we were told that there were other schools and different options for our child. We invested a lot of money and time into a school that turned their back on our child when they needed help. We ended up pulling our child out of the school with a couple months of the school year left. It is unfortunate to have people who don't care about the wellfair of the whole child in education. Our experience with Foothill has been terrible! We would not recommend this school to anyone."
"My children have been attending this school for many years and I am sad to say they will not be returning. The schools founding statement reads "But even greater than our concern for academics has been our determination to do an old-fashioned thing, to build character in our children—to stress honesty, courtesy, responsibility, and a concern for others." But if a child struggles with academics, the school will not keep them no matter how good the child's character. The school leadership lacks the character they claim is so important. It seems to me that the founders were correct but the school leadership has lost focus of what is truly important. Based on my experience and reading others reviews, FCDS has really failed its' founders, the children, and its' community as of late. When I researched this school, the reviews were all positive, both online and personal contacts. If you do the research now you will see that it is almost entirely negative."
