About the Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital
Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital, located at 1931 1st Avenue in Walnut Creek, California, is a veterinary care institution that provides free medical treatment to native California wildlife. Open every day, the hospital covers 100% of the medical costs for these animals, relying on donations to support their life-saving work. As a volunteer-based organization, they are unable to transport wildlife offsite but aim to return all patients back to their natural habitats.
With a drop-off area open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital is the first and one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation centers in the United States, treating over 5,500 injured and orphaned wild animals annually. Their mission is to provide top-notch medical care for regional wildlife, with the help of approximately 350 dedicated volunteers who contribute 60,000 hours of service each year.
The hospital, which is ADA compliant, is situated on the west side of the Lindsay property with its own parking lot. Visitors can also enjoy the Lindsay Wildlife magazine, Wildlife Wonders, and learn more about their mission of connecting people with wildlife to promote responsibility and respect for our shared world.

Reviews of Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital
"Lindsay is the best activity for young kids in the east bay! Wr have a membership and go all the time! It's the perfect spot for toddlers and young kids to explore, can be done in as little at 45 minutes and is very minimal walking. It's literally the perfect toddler activity"
"It's really really expensive for the size, like $20 for adults and $15 for kids over TWO. First time we had to pay for a ticket for our two year old. That said it's staffed very well and they have presentations every 45 minutes during the middle of the day we were there for about two hours saw a lizard presentation, owl presentation and turtle presentation she got to pet everything except the owl. Neat place they have but at that price I will go somewhere else"
"We brought in an adult squirrel that’s been living in our backyard for 1.5 years+ because she had an over grown tooth. I noticed the tooth about a year ago when it started growing outside of the mouth, but decided to bring her in recently because her tooth was growing near her eye. The rehab provided the trap and we were able to trap her. She broke the tooth off while in the trap (picture) so we weren’t sure if we would still bring the squirrel in. We decided to anyway just to make sure she was okay and to see if they could clip the tooth back any further. Called the next day to see how we would proceed with returning her to our backyard and they said they euthanized her. I asked why and the man said because she had a misaligned jaw, which is uncommon, and that she would starve to death. I was completely taken aback because this squirrel has been thriving despite that tooth being over grown. She had a great body condition and chewed fine on the other side of her mouth. My mother fed her a variety of nuts weekly, so she always had a source of food. I understand that the tooth would grow back even if they clipped and released her back, but euthanizing seemed a little hasty. I also understand that they’re busy and see tons of wildlife a day (I work in veterinary medicine) but, again, euthanizing seemed like the “easiest and cheapest” route for them to go. Definitely regret bringing her in. I’m sure they do great work outside of this incident, but this situation was very unfortunate and the man on the phone was cold."
"Employees are great and very knowledgeable about the animals and my daughter loves it here. They do require covid vax for anyone 12+ so minus a star for that. We wanted to have my daughters birthday party here but because of that rule we won't be doing that. What a bummer."
