"Great doctor I had for many years. When my COBRA ended I switched to Blue Shield of CA under Covered California. Before I switched to Blue Shield of California, I spoke with the receptionist and she confirmed that they do accept Blue Shield of California. I signed up for Blue Shield of California through Covered California and selected Dr C as my primary care physician on the Blue Shield of California website. When I showed up for my latest appointment with my new Blue Shield of California insurance card with the Covered California stamp on it, I was told that they do not accept my insurance. I asked if I could pay cash for the visit, and the receptionist told me that it is illegal for them to accept cash payments from patients who have health insurance. I had to leave without seeing Dr C. It should be illegal to deny acceptance of the patients in-network health insurance plan just because the patient is getting premium assistance through Covered California. Obviously low income patients are not welcome here."

"Dr Coelho is my mom's primary Care physician, I have always thought he was a fantastic Dr. but he recently proved that fantastic was a severe understatement. My mom was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and her oncologist decided, as she states she does with all her patients, and despite not giving my mom any kind of prognosis because she doesn't believe in it, that very aggressive chemo was the only way to go for her treatment. My mom quickly became very I'll, right after her first treatment. So when she followed up with Dr Coelho he took one look at her and because there was such a drastic decline in her health, referred her to another Oncologist for a second opinion. Its not often that you find such a gem of a Dr that truly does care for his patients. He's #1 in my book, and my momma loves him!"
