"While he was ok in discussing MALS, he didn't add anything much beyond the basics and what is readily available online. He also didn't seem very receptive to my thoughts about the neurological impact of MALS, considering the risk of damage to the CG, and what I've experienced with my own body. He focused more on CA compression. The worst part was he suggested that I might benefit from seeing not just my therapist, but a PSYCHIATRIST. It's not unreasonable to consider mental health as a factor in digestive issues, but to bring up psychiatry on a first visit without a complete understanding of the patient's medical history is nothing but dismissive. Doctors like him, who are not mental health professionals, are doing real world harm to people who are suffering from real-life physical afflictions by suggesting that it's "all in your head." I'm able to process and manage the allegation because I understand they're trying to shoo people away without having to offer a next step within an overburdened network, but I know other people might give up after an experience like that. If you think you might have MALS, I'd recommend talking to Dr. Shouhed in southern california. He has much more extensive and novel insight into MALS and has written several papers on it. I'm on to see about the possibility of Meckel's diverticulum."
