Dr. William Taboas, Ph.D.

Dr. William Taboas, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist located at 1339 Orange Avenue in Coronado, California. Specializing in individual psychotherapy for older adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety and mood disorders, Dr. Taboas brings a wealth of experience and education to his practice.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. Taboas completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Puerto Rico before earning his master's degree at Teachers College at Columbia University in New York City. He went on to obtain his Ph.D. from Fordham University in 2017 and completed his pre-doctoral internship at Westchester Jewish Community Services in Hartsdale, NY.

Currently serving as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Center for Understanding and Treating Anxiety at San Diego State University, Dr. Taboas focuses on studying neurophysiological markers for anxiety, depression, and related disorders. He has extensive training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and has worked with a variety of conditions including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, and trauma.

In addition to his work in therapy, Dr. Taboas has trained in Rational Emotive-Behavior Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based CBT to address different variations of anxiety, anger, stress, and depression. He believes in tailoring interventions to each client's unique history and needs, creating a non-judgmental environment for maximum effectiveness.

Describing his therapy style as encouraging and empathic, Dr. Taboas works to empower clients to overcome core fears and make positive changes in their lives. He is fluent in Spanish and has experience working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Dr. Taboas has published scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences, showcasing his commitment to evidence-based treatments. He is excited to be part of the Coronado Psych team and emphasizes the effectiveness of teletherapy in providing quality care to his clients.
