"If you are lucky to have a good group of fellow patients, then it makes up for the false advertisement that flyland recruiters make this prison out to be. No heat in rooms for 3 weeks, no reiki, no pool, don't get to leave the building except for a walk once or twice. Mandatory ankle bracelets, strip searches, 30 min checks 24 hrs a day the entire stay, coed bathrooms. Valuable staff members include the lead group leader first initial beginning with an S. She should run the building. The two therapists are helpful. The case manager initial beginning with an E is great. The day nurses there are knowledgeable and helpful. One night nurse harasses you about your night time as needed medications: "how are you going to survive in the outside world if you are taking these medications?" and holds them despite doctor orders. His personal decision on which medications to hold make no sense if level of risk or side effects are considered. The director of nursing is responsive and helpful. The flyand recruiters that are mainly located in Florida should all be fired and according to their manager they recently were. Their tactics to get you to go are false advertisement, harassment, belittling, and questioning abuse. One pm behavior health tech initial beginning with an A, who is a "manager" abuses his staff members, has inappropriate conversations about his personal criminal life, and is the laziest person there in terms of work ethics. Multiple patients voiced their concerns about him and hopefully management will listen and make the necessary changes. If it weren't for some valuable staff members and patients I would have left this place after 48 hrs. The food sanitation was another concern for many patients. One last thing that multiple patients complained about was the lack of communication on discharge planning until 1-3 days before you leave. They do not care to research other aftercare facilities except the 4 they are affiliated with. You really have to advocate for yourself or you will end up in some php in southern California without knowledge on where the hell you are going or what it is. They will say you agreed to their after care treatment center when you know you said no and have witnesses to prove that you never agreed. They will then ask you multiple times if you will talk to the intake center on the phone again because " you agreed" previously. They will push and push on what they think you should do, so you have to remember to advocate, advocate, advocate!! If you are not getting anywhere with the discharge planning then head to the main group leader or case manager to get help. Everyone else there is about selling the patient to a facility. As a advanced degree halthcare worker myself for over a decade I would say make the best of the situation if you end up here but many improvements still need to be made. This facility has only been open for a couple months and under new management so hopefully improvements will occur with time."
"Aurora recovery has made such a positive impact toward reaching long term sobriety. I am thankful for the entire staff. These people truly have compassion, understanding and empathy. Many of the staff members are in recovery themselves. The facility itself is brand new and has clearly spent a ton of time and resources to ensure a safe, comfortable, stress free environment. Also, it is very very clean and modern feeling. Because of their help and guidance I feel I can achieve long term sobriety. I have so much love for all the staff and the other clients I went through this program with. Thank You! XOXO Josh"
